=Itazura's Food Guide=

Various food has various effects, but they all fall under three categories:

'''Meal'''
The vast majority of food falls under this; basically, everything except drinks. When under its effect, it's not possible to use any other food except those which gives Refresh or Regen effects.

'''Refresh'''
This effect comes from various juice type drinks (e.g. Melon Juice, Yagudo Drinks). Note that this gives the exactly same effect as Red Mage's Refresh spell (but differ in MP/tick and duration), and does not stack with Refresh. It does stack with Ballad (Song) and Evoker's Roll (Phantom Roll) effects, however.

'''Regen'''
This effect comes from various milk based drinks (e.g. Selbina Milk, Pamama au Lait). Note that this gives the exactly the same effect as Red Mage, Scholar, and White Mage's Regen series of spells, and does not stack with them. It does stack with Paeon (Song) effect, however.

== Progression ==
Food useful at lower levels generally are not sufficient at higher levels. Conversely, some very useful food for merit parties actually do worse than cheaper food at Valkurm Dunes.

=== Melee ===
''Attack Food'' → ''Accuracy Food (~Lv.40)''
Due the percentage nature of sushi for accuracy, generally speaking sushi does not provide enough benefit under Lv.40 to be recommended as primary food. Typically, melees start off with food which improves the attack, then transition to sushi as accuracy food at Lv.40 or so. Some jobs which rely heavily on range weapons (e.g. Ranger and Corsair), Ninja, and the TP dependent Dancer may want to switch to sushi as early as Lv.30.

At very high levels, when players may have merits and are able to reach capped accuracy from gears alone, many opt to switch back to attack type food, though usually different ones than those used at lower levels.

=== Mage ===
''Max MP Food'' → ''hMP Food (~Lv.25 or earlier)''
At lower levels when lasting through a single battle is sometimes a concern, food such as fruit pies and certain mushroom based items to increase the MP pool are preferred. Many of those food also provide useful stats to mages such as Intelligence or Mind. Long term, however, with the exception of Blue Mage (and Red Mage to a lesser extend), mages require MP recovery (hMP) from food more than anything else.

{{Guide}}

== Progression ==
Food useful at lower levels generally are not sufficient at higher levels. Conversely, some very useful food for merit parties actually do worse than cheaper food at Valkurm Dunes.

=== Melee ===

=== Mage ===

== Progression ==
Food useful at lower levels generally are not sufficient at higher levels. Conversely, some very useful food for merit parties actually do worse than cheaper food at Valkurm Dunes.

=== Melee ===
Some jobs which rely heavily on range weapons (Ranger and maybe Corsair), Ninja tanks (on Dorado Sushi), and the TP dependent Dancer may want to switch to sushi as early as Lv.30.

At very high level when players have merits and are able to reach accuracy from gears alone, many opt to switch back to attack type food, though usually different ones than those used at lower levels.

=== Mage ===
At lower levels when lasting through a single battle is a concern, max MP food such as fruit pies and certain mushroom based food are used. Many of those food also provide useful stats to mages such as Intelligence or Mind. Long term, however, with the exception of Blue Mage (and Red Mage to a lesser extend), mages require MP recovery (hMP) from food more than max MP boost.

== Progression ==
Food useful at lower levels generally are not sufficient at higher levels. Conversely, some very useful food for merit parties actually do worse than cheaper food at Valkurm Dunes.

=== Melee ===
Due the percentage nature of sushi for accuracy, generally speaking sushi does not provide enough benefit under Lv.40 to be recommended as primary food. Typically, melees start off with food which improves the attack, then transition to sushi as accuracy food at Lv.40 or so.

=== Mage ===
at lower levels when lasting through a single battle is a concern, max MP food such as fruit pies and certain mushroom based food are used. Many of those food also provide useful stats to mages such as Intelligence or Mind. Long term, however, with the exception of Blue Mage (and Red Mage to a lesser extend), mages require MP recovery from food more than anything else.

== Progression ==
Food useful at lower levels generally are not sufficient at higher levels. Conversely, some very useful food for merit parties actually do worse than cheaper food at Valkurm Dunes.

=== Melee ===
Due the percentage nature of sushi for accuracy, generally speaking sushi does not provide enough benefit under Lv.40 to be recommended as primary food. Typically, melees start off with food which improves the attack, then transition to sushi as accuracy food at Lv.40 or so.

=== Mage ===
at lower levels when lasting through a single battle is a concern, max MP food such as fruit pies and certain mushroom based food are used. Many of those food also provide useful stats to mages such as Intelligence or Mind. Long term, however, with the exception of Blue Mage (and Red Mage to a lesser extend), mages require MP recovery from food more than anything else.
