Some notes/suggestions (I am currently mid-50s, so don't just take my word for it :P).

Skill caps of recipes can be checked by attempting them. The amount of impurities after 1 feed is the cap plus your level (e.g. level 40 making incubus earring gets 14% impurities, so earring is 54 skill cap). This is true unless the recipe is less than 5 levels, as minimum impurities is 5 regardless. You cannot skill above cap like other crafts.

Explosions can only happen after an action that takes impurities to >30%. So ideally you skill up with a 14 or less level gap to get at least 3 feeds in between explosions. A gap of 9 is even better. While you can skill on thwacks it is better to skill on feeds. I've checked my logs and I can fit in 5 thwacks if I'm lucky but they're only a 4.5% success rate per thwack so it's better to avoid explosions.

A small amount of cooking can be useful to kickstart your progress (via orange/apple juice) in low levels.

Leaves are a bit hard to get these days. Being able to find alternative recipes is important. You will probably need a craft for this and can use the above technique to find caps.

You can apparently /toss your stall if you want to make it early, then make it again later for skillups. Unconfirmed, but I made mine at 54 skill very easily to be able to use it during the synthesis campaign so I'll find out later (or use another recipe).

In terms of training, from what I've read Synergy is a race against time so you want skills that work for you with this. 5x fewell (less feeds), 5x lever (less impurities = no explosion), and 5x repair (buys you more time). 5x thwack is tempting while levelling but you cannot retrain and you should ideally never be thwacking when actually trying to get a result.

skillup experiences

So I just took Synergy from 19-80 in a few days. It was hell, even after what I learned.

It seems that you get your best skillups on things that are at least a full rank above yours. For example, I took Silver nugget from 30 to 40, mythril nugget from 40 to 50, gold nugget from 50 to 60, platinum nugget from 60 to 70, and hrafn gambieras from 70 to 80. Contrary to earlier testing, I noticed no difference in skillup rates between 20-80. It was horrible the whole way. It took about 130 earth fewell, averaging about 2 earth fewells a level.

more conjecture, but it seems skillups almost always happened in bursts. there would be the .1 and .2 here and there, but then suddenly id get 2 to 3 in a row after a few dry spells. --Nattack (talk) 23:48, 3 September 2020 (EDT)
