Vana'diel Tribune

The Vana'diel Tribune was an online newspaper that was set within the world of Vana'diel.

It should be noted that it often broke the fourth wall (i.e., acknowledging its audience as the players of FFXI and not citizens of Vana'diel) and cannot completely be considered canon. It is no longer being released by SE.

In universe, the newspaper was published by editor-in-chief Ainworth in Jeuno, with rumors that their office would be changing locations soon (from the 10th Anniversary Campaign event in 2012). This coincidentally aligned with Square Enix's upcoming office move in September 2012 to another building in Shinjuku.

The Tribune was available to read from a menu within the Mog House, or by using the /tribune command, starting in Version Update (06/12/2002) until the replacement of the command and menu in Version Update (04/17/2006).

There were 31 articles in total, of which the first 17 were only released in Japanese. On October 28th 2003, English service started so they began releasing the Tribune in English as well at that point.

Beginning in November 2004, a second series was published as Vana'diel Tribune II.
