A Guide to Speed Bonecrafting?

So to try to flush out the guides here I am attempting to make a quick and easy guide to get you to 70. Why 70 well obviously since you can get all crafts to 70 without impacting other crafts you may have above 70 why not max them out?

This guide is designed for quick and easy skilling not for money some items will make you money especially if you farm all the ingredients. As far as what to make for money, well I dunno look at the AH maybe and see what's selling.

Important things to different as with any craft is to get the skill items and food. Yeah we won't make much money but it's better to keep losses to a minimum.

Bonecrafting:

General points of knowledge from Byrthnoth's other guides:

  • Always use Kitron Macarons. Curio Vendor Moogle is your best bud here.
  • I prefer to start synthing something when I'm 5 levels below it (with advanced support) and then will take it past cap if it's useful or particularly cheap. Sometimes you end up with longer gaps than that, but it's not ideal unless it's a REALLY cheap synth. Everything listed will show a range from when you can probably start making the synth and then move on when you hit the cap. You can still get skill up to 10 over it's cap at a 66-75% rate. So that's a good thing to keep in mind if materials run scarce.
  • There are now two guild NPCs. One of them is always open and sells kits and mats, but the materials are typically more expensive than the least expensive normal guild NPC price. Buy from whichever has the item for cheapest. Not all items are available on both.
  • Change your job to WHM or RDM and set the 30 synths RoE quest. You eventually want to be level 70 on this character so you can wear a torque. RoE quest won't get you there, but it will get you to 25 or 30 so you can cast Sneak/Invis.

Crystals:

Your major cost with this guide is going to be Crystals. There is somewhere in Ru'Aun Gardens with 4 elementals of a given type close together, and you can just farm them over and over for clusters. You get about 1.5-2 clusters/kill with TH, so it takes about 2 hours of farming a given element to get 10 stacks of clusters and you will probably not need anymore to hit 110. The 2 primary crystals you'll use are Wind and Earth with Lightning and Fire interspersed here and there.

  • Wind: The corner closest to AAHM on the Genbu side has Wind Elementals.
  • Earth: Getting to the island use the AAMR Home Point and go past the Ice Elementals.

Gear:

If you have a job over level 20 and have your mount DO THE QUEST Atelloune's Lament. You won't regret it. The latent will work from Skill 1-40. So get a move on. Assuming you are maining Bonecraft or just putting your other crafts on hold. Start up the guild points and start accumulating points as soon as you can.

Main Craft: Bonecraft - (4)

  • Easy farm really. Go kill skeletons, get bones all synths are profit. Also great place to get chips is Abyssea - Tahrongi. Turn on the RoE for Harvesting there and go to the top left corner where the dragon bones are. Take out your trusty pick axe (or 50) and pick away at those bones. Stock what you may need (Bone Chips and Giant Femurs) and sell the rest. You probably will come ahead. Take this past the cap to 5.

  • If you farm the items you can skill off this but just make 1 for the test.

Main Craft: Bonecraft - (10)

  • Here's your next easy skill up synth. You can take this to 20 IF you wanted to. It's best to ride this to 11 since options are scarce til 16 cap.

  • Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!! NPC them when done.

*Test Item Level 28*

Synthesis Information

EarthCrystal-Icon.gif

Main Craft: Bonecraft - (27)

  • Just make one at 22 and forget about it until you can turn it in. Since you'll probably be in Windy to pick up mats/take the test for previous ranks grab one from Drogza in Port Windy (H-7), if not you can get them in Lower Jeuno (H-9) for 1250 gil. Or make one if you have Goldsmithing 17+.

Novice

28-33 - Beetle Arrowheads - Wind Crystal: Beetle Jaw, Bone Chip.
Hope you still have bone chips left. You can ride this to 43 if you want.

33-38 - Fang Arrowheads - Wind Crystal: Black Tiger Fang, Bone Chip.
The fangs will be the tough ones but there are plenty of places to farm them.

38-40 - *Test Item* Horn Ring - Wind Crystal: Fish Scales, Ram Horn.
Just make the one and turn it in.

Apprentice

36-41 - Bone Knife - Wind Crystal: Walnut Lumber, Giant Femur.
Not a bad synth, you can buy the lumber from the WW Guild. Sell to MPC after.

38-43 - Horn Arrowheads - Wind Crystal: Bone Chip, Ram Horn.
Easy stuff is easy.

42-47 - Horn - Wind Crystal: Beetle Jaw, Ram Horn.
Not too bad really.

45-50 - Bone Rod - Fire Crystal: Giant Femur, Ram Horn x2.
Really the only decent one to do. You do this to 48-50 or you could ride Horn to 48.

48-50 *Test Item* - Carapace Gorget - Earth Crystal: Iron Chain, Crab Shell x2.
Just need 1.

Journeyman

48-53 - Scorpion Arrowheads - Wind Crystal: Bone Chip, Scorpion Claw.
Not too bad really. You can ride this to 63 if you want.

52-57 - Blood Stone - Wind Crystal: Giant Femur, Grass Thread, Fiend Blood.
Fiend Blood isn't too hard to get from NPC and not too pricy. It's in Kahzam.

55-60 - Scorpion Ring - Wind Crystal: Scorpion Shell.
SUPER easy and cheap recipe. Ride this to 70 if you want.

58-60 *Test Item* - Astragalos - Earth Crystal: Giant Femur, Black Ink, Beastman Blood.
You COULD skill off this if you can get a decent supply of Beastman Blood. It caps @ 58 so not too bad.

Craftsman

58-63 - Demon Arrowheads - Wind Crystal: Bone Chip, Demon Horn.
Not too tough. Those Kindred in Castle Zvahl need a good beating anyway. They been left alone for too long. If you feel like it you can skip it and do Ladybug Rings.

60-65 - Ladybug Ring - Wind Crystal: Ladybug Wing x2.
Why WOULDN'T you do this one!! It doesn't get much easier than this really! It can take you to 70 for cheap.

65-69 - Beast Horn - Wind Crystal: Ram Horn x2.
IF you just wanted to maximize the skill ups you can do this to 69 and go back to Ladybug Rings for the last level.

68-70 - Demon's Knife - Wind Crystal: Ebony Lumber, Demon Horn.
A purely Skill up synth for that last level it caps at 73 so assuming you wanna go past them you can do this one. But for the purposes of this guide this is it.
