MNK/WAR Solo w/ Trusts.

When fighting Shadow Lord on VD it is really important to always keep your DT set on. Even if his damage seems low at first, the second phase where he spams skills one after another can easily make trusts unable to cope with healing speed.

Start the fight with Chi Blast (with at least 1 merit point put into it) and Mantra, to make sure that no unlucky incident will happen.

The biggest issue for new players is the physical immunity phase used after the Damning Edict went on. On VD, he switches phases at least twice, first time around 75% and then around 20~25% HP. To get past this phase you need to have Formless Strikes merited. Using it will allow you to damage him the same way as you would use breath damage. Don't waste your TP, the Formless Strikes do not affect Weapon Skills. In my fight on Difficult level you will see that I have entered with Formless Strikes on cooldown but still was able to win the fight.

The second phase is really easy and just depends on who will do bigger damage quicker (this is why DT set is necessary). If you have saved TP from the physical immunity mode during the first phase, the fight should end quickly.

Normal

MNK/WAR Solo without Trusts.

Challenging fight for MNK/WAR without Trusts. Fight bears some similarities to the VD fight with them. The basic strategy is the same: hit it till it dies. Start the fight with Chi Blast (with at least 1 merit point put into it). There are two ways of healing: Chakra and medicines. Using Chakra in the first phase is wasting it before it will be needed. Therefore it is advised to use capped DT and MEVA sets for any of the solo no-trusts fights.

On the Normal difficulty, he used Damning Edict twice, the first time around 70% and then around 10%. To get past the phase of physical immunity you need to have Formless Strikes merited. Using it will allow you to damage him the same way as you would use breath damage. Don't waste your TP, the Formless Strikes do not affect Weapon Skills.

The second phase is really easy and just depends on who will do bigger damage quicker. There is no real strategy to be used here. If your Damage Taken reduction set is lacking, it is worth having a few vile and high elixirs available for self-heal.
