Introduction

Trust is a type of magic which allows players who have fulfilled certain requirements to summon alter egos of popular Vana'diel NPCs to fight alongside of them in battle. A player is only able to summon any combination of three of these alter egos at a time, as well as your Adventuring Fellow. Each NPC will support you in battle depending on their role and job class. There are currently 48 available Trust spells that are able to be used. You must not currently be engaged in a battle to take advantage of this magic.

As of the June 17, 2014 update, players are now able to summon Trust NPCs while in a party with other players, but there are a few restrictions.

  • Alliances may not be formed when in a party comprised of bother players and alter egos.
  • Parties may not contain multiple alter egos of the same NPC.
  • Alter egos may not be summoned in the first 120 seconds after being invited to a party.
    • This issue is to be addressed in the near future.
  • Only the party leader is able to summon forth alter egos

As of the July 7, 2014 update, players can now summon Alter Egos while under the restriction of Level Sync, and may be used in Treasures of Aht Urhgan battlefields The Black Coffin / Shield of Diplomacy / Puppet in Peril.

Unlike your Adventuring Fellow, Trust NPCs do not gain experience in battle and do not level up. Instead, their statistics and level are based on your character's current level and also any iLevel weapon equipped in your main hand. Alter egos may receive the effects of Avatar's Favor and of Ensphere and Afterglow effects from equipment

Similar to other types of magic you cannot cast a Trust spell while under the effect of Silence or Mute, but unlike other forms of magic, casting a Trust spell is not a trigger for monsters who are aggressive to magic. Trust spells show up in under Magic Menu.

Acquiring Trust Magic

Players must have attained level 5. You are only allowed to have one quest active at a time. Completing one will allow you to start a second quest in another city. The first quest will be longer to explain the details on how to use this new form of magic. Subsequent quests will be shorter in length and will only include the basics. Any city's quest can be your first, regardless of nation rank and allegiance.

  • More aggressive requirements may need to be met in order to obtain other alter egos. See below for each npc's requirement.

  • Unlike other Ciphers, the Cipher: Mumor item seems to be a placeholder for future ways to obtain Mumor's Trust Magic.
    • Speak to one of the moogles in one of the following locations after winning Fantastic Fraulein Mumor: Dynamic Dopplegangers twice (must be wearing this year's garments the second time): Northern San d'Oria (G-8) / Bastok Markets (I-7) / Windurst Walls (G-11). You will automatically learn the spell in a cutscene if you win the dance while wearing this year's outfit, and synchronize all four times at the end.
Special Abilities: Uses Saber Dance when first engaged. Will use Drain Samba III and Haste Samba, as well as Stutter Step. Actively attempts to stun spells and TP moves. Only observed weaponskill is Skullbreaker which hits for 1500-2000 on Adoulin mobs.
