It is unknown what affects Charm duration when used by monsters, so this page will deal with the player Charm ability.

Three factors have been shown to affect Charm duration for PC Beastmasters:

  • Player CHR
  • dLevel : (Player Level - Target Level)
  • Charm+ equipment

There is no difference in duration for Beastmaster sub job compared to main job.

Charisma and Base Charm Duration

The first factor to consider is Charisma, which helps determine base Charm duration. Every point of player CHR adds 1.25 seconds to Charm duration (rounded down), and this CHR-based bonus is added to a 150 second base duration. The formula is as follows:

Base Charm Duration (seconds) = floor(1.25 × CHR + 150 )

This is the Charm duration you will see against EM monsters without any Charm+ in equipment.

dLevel

The Base Charm Duration is modified by the level difference between the player and their target.

dLevel = Player Level - Monster Level
Pre-Gear Charm Duration = Base Charm Duration × % Change

Negative dLevel values correspond to monsters having a higher level than the charming BST (≥T). Positive dLevel values would correspond to monsters having a lower level than the charming BST (≤DC).

Charm+ equipment

Every +1 Charm from gear adds 5% Charm duration. This bonus is applied separately from the dLevel bonus/penalty.

Charm Duration = Pre-gear Charm Duration × ( 1 + 0.05×(Charm+ in gear) )
