Backstory
During the Fan Festival 2007 in Anaheim, California players were able to submit written questions directly to the Dev team. Players were free to ask anything to the Devs, but there were no assurances that their questions be selected. That fateful Friday, Hempknight of the Phoenix server was one of the players to have their question selected:
- "Can we have a cheese sandwich recipe?"
The Devs agreed to it, and the sandwich was introduced in the March 2008 update.
Hempknight later allegedly expressed regret at the end of the Fanfest. Likely for the attention it garnered him and for wasting a once in a lifetime opportunity on a low tier Allakhazam meme for the lulz. Which is redundant as Alla was always low tier.
