Nab presents held hostage by nefarious goblins!

The moogles are all in a tizzy-goblins have filched some of their most prized presents and furnishings! Have mercy on the little fluff balls and wrest them back for the good of Vana'diel! But don't go unprepared-speak to moogles in the following locations to hear all about this most devious of plots.

Speak to the Moogle in the following locations to begin.

Prizes

♦Moogle Locations:

San d'Oria Flag.jpg Northern San d'Oria (J-9)
Bastok-Flag.jpg Bastok Markets (G-8)
Windurst-Flag.jpg Windurst Waters (F-9)

If you find yourself stuck and unable to clinch victory from the jaws of defeat, try speaking to the moogles again-they just might have some hints for you. If that doesn't work, you can also team up with a bunch of friends-the more the merrier, and the more likely you'll be able to nab some gifts!

  • After speaking to the Moogle, find the Goblin Merrymakers wandering the zone.
  • Trade a Goblin Chocolate to a Merrymaker, and they will begin trusting you.
    • These can be purchased for 35 Gil each in Lower Jeuno from Pawkrix at (H-10). They stack to 99.
    • It is not necessary to trade these to the Goblins, but it makes the process much quicker. If you do not, they will cast Gravity and Bind on you, which last from 10-15 seconds.
  • Continue following the goblin and interacting with him. Eventually, you will obtain a Red present (San d'Oria), Blue present (Bastok) or Green present (Windurst).
    • You may also bother them enough that they will cast Gravity or Bind on you even if you gave them a Goblin Chocolate.
    • You can restart trading with them after trading another Goblin Chocolate and may receive the present from future interactions.
  • After obtaining the present key item, report back to the Moogle without being seen by the Merrymakers. They will steal back the present if your caught, and you will have to restart. He will tell you who it belongs to.
  • Speak to the NPC the moogle indicates. They will tell you who the present is for. Again, you cannot be seen by the Merrymakers.
  • Visit the NPC who the present was given to. They will thank you for giving it to them.
  • You can now freely run back to the NPC who the present was initially from. Report your work to them.
  • Visit the moogle, who will reward you with the Dream TrousersDream Trousers description.png (Males) or Dream PantsDream Pants description.png (Females).
  • Repeat the event while wearing the pants to obtain the Dream Trousers +1Dream Trousers +1 description.png (Males) or Dream Pants +1Dream Pants +1 description.png (Females).
  • Repeating the event for the third time while wearing the +1 leg armor will reward you with the Leafkin BopperLeafkin Bopper description.png.
  • Repeating the event for the fourth time while wearing the +1 leg armor and the Bopper will grant the Leafkin Bopper +1Leafkin Bopper +1 description.png.
  • Further repeating will yield the Republic Stables Medal, Kingdom Stables Collar, or Federation Stables Scarf.
  • Continuing to repeat the event will reward you with Black Pudding and other holiday treats.

Wreath Furnishings from the Goblins

By trading miscellaneous Beastcoins or Jewels to the Goblins, you can obtain a country-unique furnishing. Only one of the eight Goblin Merrymaker in each area will accept the Beastcoin/Jewel and give the wreath in return, the rest will simply return the Beastcoin claiming they have nothing to give you.

Confirmed Coins:

Confirmed Jewels:

These can be obtained from the Goldsmithing Guild in Bastok Markets.

Note: The item only disappears from your inventory if you obtain a Furnishing, meaning if you want all three, only three items are required regardless of trades.

The Gift of a Child's Laughter!

Throughout the event, smilebringers will be handing out presents to all the children in town from the locations listed below. Make lots of children's dreams come true, and something felicitous might just visit you!

  • A Dream Hat or Dream Hat +1 must be equipped to give presents to all the good boys and girls. Dream caps may be purchased from the special stores set up for this event.

♦Smilebringer Locations:

San d'Oria Flag.jpg Northern San d'Oria - Charmealaut (J-9)
Bastok-Flag.jpg Bastok Mines - Information Needed
Windurst-Flag.jpg Windurst Waters (North) - Information Needed

  • The purpose of this event is to obtain Nation to Nation warps. With the advent of Home Point warps, the only reason to do this segment of the Starlight Celebration is to immediately receive a Dream Hat +1 instead of waiting for the weekly Conquest update.
  • You will receive a Kiddie Present from the Smilebringer after speaking to him. Trade the present to any child in the area.
    • You must be wearing the NQ Dream Hat to trade presents or fireworks to the children.
    • This will build your "Kiddie Fame". After trading one present, you need to either wait for the next Vana'diel Day to trade another, or trade some starlight celebration fireworks.
  • Trade 21 of any Starlight Celebration Fireworks (sold at the shops) to any child. You must trade one at a time.
  • After you trade all 21, check with the original Smilebringer to be sure your fame is maxed.
    • The smilebringer will mention "The children love you" in the log if you are maxed. Using the nation warps will lower your fame, so avoid doing that.
  • Follow the step below to obtain your Dream Hat +1.

Dream Hat +1 icon.png Dream Hat +1

You may obtain a Dream Hat +1Dream Hat +1 description.png by placing all three original Nation Christmas Trees in your Mog House.

  • This must be done from the Mog Safe 1 and not 2.
  • You can only obtain one item from your Moogle per Earth day.

After doing this, speak to your Moogle. He will mention that he found a Special Present under one of your trees. Use the item outside of your Mog House to obtain the Dream Hat +1.

Presents in Exchange for "Gift Token" Key Items!

Present any gift tokens obtained during the Starlight Celebration to a festival moogle posted at one of the locations below, and you will receive seasonal items in exchange.

Speaking to a Moogle will immediately consume a key item, so it is advised that you keep your rewards in your inventory until you receive everything.

Master the Art of Turning Frowns Upside Down!

For the duration of the Starlight Celebration, the participation fee will be waived for the Smilebringer Boot Camp, and adventurers who prove their grit and gaiety will be presented with unique seasonal items. To learn all the details, simply talk to a friendly neighborhood smile sergeant posted at one of the locations below. The training will be available in three difficulty levels-beginner, intermediate, and advanced-with each offering different rewards.

  • This event is basically a foot race, so movement speed gear, mazurka, flee, and other such enhancements help.
  • There are no level restrictions, and monsters in the zone aggro under normal conditions.
  • Speaking to an NPC will grant you a 30 second Flee effect.
  • The timer does not stop until you speak to the NPC where you began the race.
