Parry does check, just found this out last night and got a funny looking screenshot.--[[User:Vistani|Vistani]]

Hmm. Well, this has been wrong for a loong time.

"If a Counter is blocked by Shield (and likely if it is parried or countered), that Counter is also treated as if it had missed."

This shield functionality was nerfed sept. 2012. First on the test server, then on the main servers. Which sucks.

Will remove the portion on Shields, but will leave the parry note as I can confirm that you can parry incoming counters. Will add a verification tag to the counter portion.

In the linked screenshot, a parry skill up occurs with no parry message. Since this was taken in 2007 years before the update that allowed parry to skill up without activating, a skill up means Parry must have proc'd. This implies that a counter was attempted, then parried, and the counter was canceled allowing the original melee strike to occur.

If this is considered insufficient or too old, then the best test would be to test a monster's counter rate, then test again on RUN with Inquartata gear and Battuta. Should reduce counter procs to nearly none.

- "If the enemy evades the counter attack, the attack on the player goes through normally." What is that supposed to mean? It is poorly worded.

It means that if the player procs counter on an enemy attack that lands on the player, then if the enemy evades, parries, anticipates or in any other way avoids the counter then the player will be hit as normal.--Vistani

  • You can counter into shadows.
  • An evaded counter becomes a failed counter.
  • I'm not sure if a parried counter becomes a failed counter or if parry simply does not check. Same for third eye. --Aurik 13:58, 4 October 2007 (CDT)
