|About Me=I was in the NA PS2 Beta test for FFXI. When the official release came out I waited a few days and a good friend of mine got me invited to Unicorn. My wife at the time saw FFXI and demanded I get her a copy. We played together until I had to deploy to Iraq after which she passed away. After returning from deployment I came back to FFXI and stayed until 2010 where I stopped. I stumbled across BG Wiki in 2016 and saw all the changes and became excited to come back. I decided to help out and edit some much needed pages and I still do from time to time.

My character is Aleenaii (originally Aleenaii on Unicorn) her full name is Aleena Válisdóttir. Aleena is the name for my original D&D character circa 1982-3. It was taken from the Cleric in the intro adventure of the basic red box set. Later in trying to come up with a last name to fit her personality and keeping with my own personal heritage I decided to have her be the daughter of the Norse God Váli (pronounced Vow-lih), God of Revenge. The dóttir part is part of the traditional naming convention denoting her being the daughter of Váli. This is where we get names in the current day like Johnson or Anderson. The naming convention of the child taking the name of the father+daughter or son was common during the Viking age and is still used in Iceland in many cases. It is not uncommon to see unmarred women there with this naming convention. Most notable example is the singer Björk whose last name is Guðmundsdóttir, which is translated as the daughter of Guthmund.
