Talk:Inundation

From FFXI Wiki

Notes

Just as a note, the "max inundation bonus" stat on the page (12.8) from Camate's post indicates that each 1.2x bonus is multiplicative with the others (15 types, 14 "different types", 1.2^14=12.83).

However, I'm not sure it's possible to have a >8 WS skillchain, so the maximum possible bonus from Inundation is probably 3.6x (1.2^7). --Byrthnoth (talk) 07:07, 9 June 2017 (EDT)

Thought it was a max of 6 step due to the window being far too short at that point, so would be a 2.5x increase? I'll try and get some numbers soon and hopefully someone with better mathematics than me can confirm --Songen (talk) 08:59, 9 June 2017 (EDT)

The test data below is showing that the bonus is being retained across skillchains, so Camate's math seems to be correct. Maximizing the bonus may be a question of alliance organization, not skillchain length. Although it's not clear if the data is in chronological order, there are 2-step skillchains with +72% SC bonus on both steps.

  • Design Discussion - Matsui-P talks about balancing skillchains: Fudo is too strong, let's create a new buff to reward cooperate skillchains. Inundation was going to be a buff named Ardor, a spell from FF12.
  • Freshly Picked 18 Digest - Note about skillchaining with multiple players as the requirement for Inundation bonus.

Tried Inundation with self-skillchains using icarus wings. Even if I swapped weapons, there was no bonus skillchain damage. I did SCs with Archery -> Sword and Dagger -> Sword. It's not mentioned in the version update, though Freshly Picked 18 says "When casting Inundation on a monster, you will gain a skillchain damage bonus when multiple players perform skillchains using different weapon types." Inundation's design discussion on the OF mentioned player feedback that 2H self-skillchains like Fudo are too strong. Self-skillchains don't work with Inundation by design, it is not a bug. --Shynoe (talk) 01:03, 9 October 2022 (EDT)

New new test (I hope i got this right this time)

First thing, skillchain variables check list:
Skillchain damage is determined by eight factors at the moment: (Referenced BG skillchain section)

*The damage of the action that created the current skillchain (Closing Damage) = (As will be stated in results stated
further down) *The number of Skillchain properties used so far and the current Skillchain level = T1 Scisson (Earth) + T1 Detonation
(wind) only *Skillchain Bonus =0 *Magic Damage =0 *Skillchain Damage +% equipment = 0 *Day/Weather Bonuses (can be forced using Obis) =0 (Thunder/light/dark days. unsure if weather showed up due to being engaged
majority of the time however would have been wind or fire (Irrelivent for this SC type) only, and since wind weather causes the
mobs (As stated later) to aggro at a further distance, i can assume it didn't appear) *Staff Affinity =0 *iLevel/Resistance Damage Bonus = 0 *Magic Damage reduction/bonuses of the target (like Shell) = 0 (Mob only uses cocoon for physical defence up (As shown by the
frequent low WS dmg).

Trusts, ArkEv, Yoran, Ulmia, Joachim

Weapons, Ipetam (Dagger), Arasy sword +1 (Sword), Purgation (Axe), Aizkora (Great axe), Mafic Cudgel (Club)

Signet or nothing was used to prevent ionis affecting it (If it does in any ways)

No inundation tests (Base SC dmg)

I hope these numbers are enough for some final values. anyone able to do the math? ~This was a nightmare to attain between 2 characters and dealing with a trust that likes to get in the way~

- Added SC bonus values in red. The RDM has 5% or 22% skillchain bonus at different times, consistently inconsistent between the baseline and test. --Shynoe (talk) 01:03, 9 October 2022 (EDT)
