Notes
This ability's Magic Damage Taken reduction is calculated in a second step after any other Damage Taken gear. It stretches beyond the 50% cap, but it is not considered Magical Damage Taken II.
Example: A spell lands for 4,000 damage, but it is reduced by 2,000 damage from -50% Damage Taken. That leaves 2,000 damage remaining. This ability then activates, reducing 2,000 damage by an additional 1% per merit level, for a maximum of 10% with 5/5 merits and the Bihu Cuffs +3 equipped. This reduces total damage to 1,800 points.
