Talk:Azure Tomes: Blue Magic Guide by Sabishii

From FFXI Wiki

Dark Orb is one of the best single target nukes, so I'm not sure why you're saying it's shitty. --Kyte (talk) 02:29, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

I wrote half of this guide when the spells were released, and back then it was garbage, but I just tested outside of town and one shotted a chapuli, and you're right. It was doing 8.3k damage. Gonna have to look back on some of the older spells to retest. The addition of the magic damage stat really changed this spell. Thanks for the heads up. ~Sabishii of Asura~TalkContrib 15:28, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

Should probably fix the part about additional effects on bilgestorm/tourbillion since it has changed since the aforementioned.

Just skimming random things, but I am not sure why you wrote triple attack is great for "Almace wielding BLUs" it is good for all BLUs. Could save yourself the work of a traits section by referencing the wiki page with some comments about the DA and TA being weaker than their counterparts (which you have on DA). Makes it easier to maintain.

We have been BLUs together for a very long time. Except you had to go and change servers *rolls eyes*. --Spicyryan (talk) 19:03, 12 August 2015 (EDT)

I see you changed things up :O

Skimmed it again. It feels like you wrote this guide years and years ago starting at the 75 cap and finished it now. Things like your testimony of how much embrace was curing at level 76. Shinryu with a brew and Charged Whisker lol. Enervation was cool for Charged Whisker burns back in the day too :P

Anyway, nice guide Sab. I should make one of a different nature to compliment yours.

It will be just like Dynamis with Liminality all over again :P --Spicyryan (talk) 14:49, 13 August 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, I started this guide back at 75 cap, and just kept adding to it. I need to go through it more and take outdated info out and replace with updated info. I still have copies of it on old wiki/gamerescape that I maintained until I moved it to bgwiki. I really appreciate all the feedback I get. Back in the old days on asura, I was getting a lot of compliments from random people who were leveling BLU and saw the guide on ffxiclopedia. Considering how much I love this job, and play it most of the time, I want it to be a good resource for people to go to, like how people go to ffxiah for those guides. ~Sabishii of Asura~TalkContrib 15:58, 13 August 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, people love guides. Imagine if you were Ctownwoody!

I was thinking of making less a BLU guide and more an "evolution of 6-7 years of being a BLU, and how I play today" play style guide that doesn't cover the things like traits, spells, and what you went over. The gear is handled by AH.com, a guide like yours handles the gaps of what that leaves behind about the job, but play styles are pretty subjective. Luckily I can bang that out quickly, and not over four years or so :P

Even when you learn BLU, and become good at it. You constantly evolve and mold to the job and your environment better, and think like the BLU. At least I feel that way. The job has changed a lot over time, and things change in minor tweaks to it in updates too. I feel I still am learning to be a BLU after years and years. Even when you think you have it you just have confidence.--Spicyryan (talk) 16:11, 13 August 2015 (EDT)
