Talk:Blood Pact Ability Delay

From FFXI Wiki

I like the sections that clarify that gift delay counts toward the delay itself separately from delay I and delay II, but I propose that we do not call it Blood Pact Ability Delay III because it is nowhere in the game referenced as this, and will create confusion in both talking to others about it and even more if SE ever does release a Blood Pact Ability Delay III. I feel to avoid both of these problems, we call it something like Gift Delay or Straight Ability Delay from Gifts or something similar in order to make it both easier to talk to others about it and avoid confusion. I think it's better to have it as III (when I get around to fixing the Job Points page I was gonna put it there too), as that innately shows the player that it's NOT II and is like II: a separate cap.
As for calling it Gift Delay et al, the longstanding..... how should I say..... misconception? bad science? stupid? (I said it was a faulty test when it first came out, but got poopoo'd... So when I got 1200 I tested the two tiers of it, and found that yes. My original suspicions were correct and that it IS III.) Anyways, people have considered it II ever since its release. Because the only test ever done with it was by a tard who also capped I when testing it. So having it be labeled III tells the reader, who should be familiar with II, that it's a third category and thus only subject to the overall cap. (I made sure to check with less than capped I if I still had 30s delays, and I did. Making these actually better gifts than when people assumed they were II.)
Since this isn't a real Job Trait, I think we should have it mirror the gear effect that it replicates. -- FaeQueenCory (talk) 12:35, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Is it even possible to get Blood Pact Ability Delay II to -15?

I'm not sure it is even possible to get the Blood Pact Ability Delay II to -15. When I count it up, the highest according to the main page is -14. I compute this using:

This totals to -14. Please note the values on the gear are the maximum listed for body and feet. Thus my question on getting to -15, which is the maximum. If SE only gives us at most -14 worth of items, then the realistic max is -14, right?

How sure are people of the main page calculations?

I'm wondering if the main page calculations are correct. Why? By calculation I should be at -40, but when I do any BP I'm seeing the timer at between 28 and 24 seconds (-32 and -36). I'm not sure why the variation is occurring, but the longer delay is only for a bit after I call an Avatar. Once its been out for a bit, the delay timer goes to 24 seconds.

My calculations are:

BPAD I: -15 (Actually higher for all the gear) BPAD II: -12 BPAD III: -5 (over 100 JP) As the max BPAD I-III can give is -30 and my total is -32, I'm capping it at -30. AF: -10

Adding AF (Avatar Favor) and the three BPAD together gives -40. Yet, I'm seeing -32 to -36.

Sorry for the delay in response, but the "calculations" are 100% correct. SE has stated that Favor reduces Delay by -10s. However it's moderately well known (and documented on the main page) that with the maximum tier of Favor (575 skill +4) you only get -8s.
We had thought that it was bugged... But given that at the time we hadn't known about RF+3s would happen.... It's likely that those last two seconds will only be available with a Beckoner's Horn +3.

There are no higher tiers past 575 skill, so having 800000000 skill will give you the same effect as 575.
You get +1 from Gifts and +3 form Beckoner's Horn +1Beckoner's Horn +1 description.png.

Since the last two tiers are not reducing delay, we can assume that to reduce delay by 1s, you need at least 3 tiers of Favor. (Since 2 don't remove 1s, 3 or more must be required.)

So if I am right and we assume a 3:1 is the exchange, then Beckoner's Horn +2 will likely have Favor+4 with the +3 having Favor+7.

So.... You're experiencing just how it works. (The variance is because Favor has a charge time, hence the Job Point category; which basically eliminates that variance.) -- FaeQueenCory (talk) 14:53, 24 April 2017 (EDT)

Though noticing that you're not getting more than 6s off... You likely are not reaching the maximum Favor tier: 512+3, 575+2, 447+4. You need to have all that required skill equipped in your delay set. -- FaeQueenCory (talk) 15:02, 24 April 2017 (EDT)

So thanks to Papesse, Baayami Attire allows us to hit a new high tier, showing that it is indeed 3tiers/-1s of Favor delay reduction. (2 tiers not reducing any, +1 tier reduces by 1s: e.g. 3 tiers since the previous second off.) So the current cap is actually 670.... though with current gear it's a rather harsh hill to climb. -- FaeQueenCory (talk) 22:15, 15 May 2017 (EDT)
