Talk:Noble Mold

From FFXI Wiki

Lots of idle camping of this mob has provided this data:

  • changes are a whole number of minutes after change to water weather
  • observed over 30 water weather changes, with 2 Noble Mold spawns: exactly 2 minutes and 12 minutes after weather change
  • We also purposely disturbed the mob and saw many water weathers (with 4 having 20+ minute durations) with no pop, which led us to believe there's the 12-hour base cooldown after disturbing the PH
  • the observed rain weather durations after 12+ hours of Funguar being undisturbed (approximated from timestamps in weather changes):
    • 5,5,4,17,6,23,12,13,9,17,5,8,16,13,6,4,6,9,5,4,11,9,4,7,14,4,5,14,4,7,16,3
    • I.E. we saw weather change to rain, then back to some other weather X minutes later
  • TL;DR - Theory that seems to fit the data:
    • PH must stay idle for 12 hours after being disturbed (engaged or spawned)
    • when weather changes to water weather (RAIN/SQUALL), a random number of minutes is chosen and the mob must remain undisturbed while that weather persists
    • if the weather changes, the timer is reset
    • the random delay, X minutes, to spawn Noble Mold on weather change seems to be: 2 <= X <= 120
    • it is unknown if SQUALL increases the chance (i.e. lowers that maximum random range)
