Talk:Specter Worm

From FFXI Wiki

Wind damage also procs this worm, last night fighting it we staggered it with light skillchains, aero 3, aero 4, aero 5, and the endmg from flabra.

Procs from Endark after using Sandspin

I noticed frequent blue procs from Endark after it used Sandspin. The procs could overwrite themselves. Perhaps it's just magic damage after sandspin that triggers the procs, rather than skillchain/high damage --Nattack (talk) 07:13, 15 January 2022 (EST)

Fairly easy solo w/ Trusts on RDM/NIN (360JP) with mid-level gear (Ambuscade +2, Reforged JSE+1, Kaja Sword/Colada).

  • Trusts: Amchuchu, Matsui-P, Sylvie (UC), Ulmia, Cherukiki. Ate Rolanberry Daifuku.
    • You probably want 1 stunner for the beginning of the fight, as insurance in case things go wrong.
    • Replace Matsui-P with Zeid II if he isn't available.
  • You will need a decent enfeebling/Immunobreak equipment set for this fight. I used Reforged Empyrean +1 and Chironic Hose.
  • Buff up. Use Enaero.
    • Barstone to reduce Stonega V damage. Barsilence to resist Sound Vacuum if you get hate.
    • Haste II on your stunner Trust to ensure they have it up when needed.
    • Make sure you have shadows up, and start the fight in a DT set.
  • Immediately on pop, Saboteur + Paralyze II, Engage Specter, Addle (II), Frazzle (II / III) in that order.
    • Specter Worm has capped Fast Cast and will cast spells roughly every 10-15s. You want to get Paralyze on ASAP to hopefully stop some of the early spells.
  • Once Paralyze/Addle/Frazzle are on, try to land Silence.
    • It took me 2-3 Immunobreaks to land Silence during Saboteur. If Saboteur goes down, it's unlikely you will land it without a very good enfeebling set.
  • After Silence is on, pile on the rest of your enfeebles and go to town. You can swap out of DT equipment now.
    • Keep shadows up if you have hate. Full-Force Blow can deal over 1500 damage, but is trivially blocked with Utsusemi.
    • With Enaero on auto-attacks, you'll consistently proc and remove the Rasp/Defense Down aura without any effort.

Things are most likely to go wrong at the start of the fight.

  • An initial Stonega V will deal a good 1000+ damage to your party.
    • Don't panic, just make sure you've engaged and that your trusts can act. Matsui-P/Zeid can stun the next TP move/magic and hopefully give you time to land Silence.
  • If Specter casts Quake II, Amchuchu will get deleted from full HP if she doesn't have Vallation/Valiance up.
    • Quake II consistently dealt around 1800 damage to her in my tests.
    • If this is a constant problem for you, you may want to engage a few nearby worms to make her use Vallation/Valiance before popping Specter.
