Talk:The Voracious Resurgence Mission 7-2

From FFXI Wiki

After a few months and about 30 tries I was finally able to beat him solo as a RDM/NIN. I also had to wait for the Alter Ego Expo campaign to be able to beat this one.

I mostly used Ambuscade +2 gear and ate some Pukatrice Egg. For my tursts I used Iroha II, Mnejing, AAEV, August and Valaineral. Basically a bunch of tanks and Iroha II to make them even tankier. I just focused on getting as many hits in as I could while my tanks did what tanks do. When silenced I made sure to use some Echo Drops and heal up my tanks until they where not silenced anymore and could take care of themselves again.

After a few tries I managed to beat him this way. If your tanks die too early just leave the area and come back to try again (no need to die and open the gate again).

I've done a few of these fights, it just takes a good tank (non-trust). If you see me in game on Bahamut and need assistance, can reach out to me for help with this fight. - 14:40, 18 August 2025 (UTC)~Soliserio

For posterity: After dozens of retries, I finally beat it solo as a RDM/DNC with Ambuscade +2 gear. My trusts team were: Amchuchu (best magic DMG tank), zied II (best Physical DMG dealer), Arciela I (Support, heals AOE), Pieuj (heals Tank, cures ailments), King of Hearts (heals Tank, cures ailments, Support, Dispel). I feel like I could have swapped Pieuj with Yoran-Oran (has better Magic evasion), but maybe Pieuj was useful also with some of his unique magic defense skills.

I feel like it is only possible to beat him during a Alter Ego Expo campaign that grant them Maximum HP and MP raises by +50% or something. Even with that bonus, if Uran-Mafran does a skill chain and kills your tank, it's basically over, so the fight is mostly luck. You also need to be lucky not to be inflicted with status ailments too many times (particularly Sleep), so while my character was doing the most damage to him, I also needed to cure Silence, Paralysis, etc. to any Trusts, particularly the healers.

Good luck! I feel this fight is totally unfair.

ML22 BLM/SCH. I summoned Amchuchu, Valaineral, AAEV, Iroha II (for beefing up) and Monberaux. They held on for long enough while I hammered the boss with Manafonted nukes, but eventually they all got deleted. I popped Mana Wall and continued on, using Vile Elixirs and Myrkr to keep up my MP. Echo Drops were useful for when Monb was dead. This was done without a trust campaign. Beat him on my first try. A little edit: I was nuking in largely Empy +3 gear and had capped Mana Wall/DT. --RoseMikhail (talk) 02:53, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
