Testing

Sorry if this has already been tested, but I had some time tonight so I did some testing.

  • 99SCH vs. Flamingo, dINT=38 (checked with Thunder III and no MAB) = 63 damage Helix. 69 damage if it is day-appropriate.
    • Duration was ~90 seconds, as SE said it would be.
    • Works out for V=25, M=1
    • Used Dark Arts and cast again, damage became 87.
  • 99SCH vs. Flamingo, dINT=58 (checked with Thunder III and no MAB) = 83 damage Helix. 91 damage if it is day-appropriate.
    • Works out for V=25, M=1 still.
    • Used Dark Arts and cast again, damage became 107
      • Duration was ~168 seconds (Base damage + initial tick + 18 extra ticks?).

In both cases the damage increased by 24, which means that using Dark Arts probably just boosted the base damage of the Helix. This bonus could be something like Level/4.

  • 95 SCH vs. Flamingo, dINT=59. 84 -> 108 with Dark Arts (118 with day or 125 with Ebullience)

This is still consistent with D+24, so there is no obvious impact of Elemental Skill or level. I have also manipulated Elemental Skill using Aquilo's and Aesir Torque. I will have to remember to dramatically change level to see if the boost also varies with the Duration tiers SE gave.

  • 99 SCH +50 Elemental Magic Skill with a ton of extra INT and MAB still gave a 168 second Helix.

It looks like the boost to duration and damage are likely static at least within a tier. I will have to test lower tiers next. --Byrthnoth 21:26, 6 January 2012 (EST)

  • 60 SCH, helix lasted 138 seconds with Dark Arts up (Base damage + Initial Tick + 15 extra ticks?).
    • Helix did 73 damage, Water III did 327 damage with /BLM. Without MAB they should be 59 and 264 damage respectively. The Water III was with ES and both look like non-resists. It wasn't Watersday. From Water III, I would say dINT=19. 59-19 puts me at +15 base damage from Dark Arts, which is consistent with level/4 again.

Now I guess I need to figure out what it is based on! It looks like whatever it is was way capped the last time, at least. I'd bet it caps at level 75 or something. --Byrthnoth 22:13, 6 January 2012 (EST)

  • grevenilvec provided this link to Foldypaws' testing, which has a similar effect but may be earlier in the adjustment phase.
