Talk:Community Samurai Guide

From FFXI Wiki

For any changes or suggestions to the guide, please post here or feel free to message me (user: Foxfire) on XIAH. I'm also on the BG Discord (modoru).

Sets posted reflect information shared with other dedicated Samurai players and general consensus. NEVER post DM augments. A lottery-based system that shows up once every few months should never be the guiding principle for any player. Especially those gearing into it for the first time.

I will remove any edits that follow this trend. --Modoru (talk) 08:16, 15 May 2018 (EDT)

Information regarding Ambuscade "pulse level" great katana should be updated regarding Zanshin.

Hachimonji:

"That said, lack of store TP and Zanshin bonus may affect your tp gain by a variable margin, so you'll want to take this into consideration when gearing."

The way this GK functions under StoreTP values of 100 sTP total, or greater, completely nullifies/negates Zanshin. There is zero variable TP gain. You will see 254 tp per attack round with 100% chance of attack twice activated. If geared with greater than 100 StoreTP any attack round resulting in attack thrice will return 381TP.

TP gain is not affected by a variable margin at all if you properly gear for this GK. A lack of StoreTP on this GK is moot.

(Arguably better than R0 Mythic/Relic GKs with 150sTP build)

................

Hi, so the reasoning for that verbiage is that your TP gain is variable in the sense that you're gearing for multi-hits. Since everything is 127tp/hit (on multi-hit), your TP gain is dependent on the amount of hits you can guarantee. If you're low on sTP, your tp gain rate is low. If you're overflowing in sTP, your tp gain rate is higher. I hoped that was clarified w/ the explanation following those sentences. On zanshin, it's because it's negated that I'm saying "lack of zanshin bonus". Since there's no zanshin, there's no Ikishoten to benefit from.

I'm open to changing this if you think there's a better way to clear it up, though. Let me know on bgwiki discord or here. Modoru (talk) 11:17, 5 February 2021 (EST)

After a pointless back and forth, the user has decided I "had a nervous breakdown" and we couldn't come to an agreement, so the guide hasn't been changed. If anyone has any particulars they'd like to include, please still feel free to let me know. Have a nice day :) Modoru (talk) 14:44, 8 February 2021 (EST)

  • Wow, quit having a nervous breakdown in the face of the edgy misguided whims of others, Modoru. --Spicyryan (talk) 01:26, 9 February 2021 (EST)

For the "Max Tier" TP Set, I was kind of curious as to the reasoning on STP(Path C) Aug? The 5STP from that with a Masamune which is as low delay as your getting for "Max Tier", would put that at 257 TP per hit using that set, removing it would place it exactly at 250 TP/hit. Due to the nature of the set, being pretty much just for zerging things as it's stated, it does fall below the commonly looked for 1.2k acc (sits around 1090-1100 on a Hume no master, with master ~1125)before buffs. Since losing that 5STP doesn't change x-hit on the lowest delay weapon you'll be using, wouldn't it be better to opt for Path A for the 12 DEX 20 acc (~29 ACC). This would place you closer to 1200 (about 1155) while only losing Subtle Blow and some HP. The STP does literally nothing unless you drop dedition in favor of something like brutal, or cessance. If you drop Dedition for Cessance and keep the boots path C this would be the better choice, as you don't lose ACC from dedition, (accounting for the Cessance ACC than you are around 1105-1115), plus you get the added bonus of 3% more DA, all while maintaining your 4hit on a 437 Delay GK (Masamune) which is the lowest you'll go at this stage anyways.

So, the reasoning for the zerg set is "no accuracy checks". In other words, we're assuming you don't have to compensate for anything -- you just want damage. At that point, any extra accuracy or dex would be negligible towards your goal since you're ideally already at accuracy cap with buffs/food/whatever and you're doing what matters for a zerg - max ws frequency at highest tp gain rate (and any tp overflow). That said, if you would rather make those changes, those are indeed 100% feasible alternatives. What you see is just the result of our reasoning. --Modoru (talk) 21:11, 25 October 2018 (EDT)

wouldnt /drg be better than the other subs listed based on the native wsd trait drg gets now? -shiriokumo March 9th 2021 8:25pm et
