Talk:Divine Might II

From FFXI Wiki

While it is possible to do a melee strategy, the risk of failure is higher, especially on Very Difficult. The strategy with a 99% chance of success is as follows: (Due to Flurry2 and good skill/gear, it is possible to beat DM2 on Very Difficult with just two parties, but here is a strategy with a full alliance)

  • Alliance setup is:
    • Party1: 2x PLD/BLU, 1x BRD/WHM, 1x RDM/WHM, 2x WHM/SCH.
    • Party2: 4x RNG/NIN, 1x COR/NIN, 1x GEO
    • Party3: 4x RNG/NIN, 1x COR/NIN, 1x GEO

Before entering, a BRD mule (or two if don't have enough songs) will put 5 dummy songs on each party. Once all parties have dummy songs, BRD mule will Soul Voice, Nightingale/Troubadour songs onto all parties. The GEOs and RDM will sit out for quick swapping of the BRD.

  • BRD does Nightingale/Troubadour Soul Voice Archer's Prelude, Hunter's Prelude, Minuets 5, 4, (and 3 if have 99 daurdabla) on the RNGs and COR.
  • BRD does Nightingale/Troubadour Soul Voice Victory March (March x2 if have 99 daurdabla), Ballad x2, Scherzo on PLDs and WHMs.
  • COR should do Hunter's Roll and Courser's Roll. Can swap CORs for further rolls, but it is not necessary.
  • RNG and COR should use Riverfin Soup, Kohlrouladen, Pot-au-feu, or sushi.
  • PLDs should have relic reforged gear, Repulse Mantle, PDT rings (preferably Defending Ring and augmented Dark Ring), Ochain, and Aegis.
  • RNGs should have Annihilators and use Coronach.
  • GEOs do not go near the AAs and just focus on the buffs for the RNGs and CORs.

After outside songs and the GEOs and RDM are back in alliance, quickly enter. One WHM will enter and stay at the entrance (to support the Supertank PLD) all the away against the back wall so as to avoid AoE.

  • Everyone else immediately go to top of stairs and have the PLDs buff up.
  • One PLD will be the Supertank with Ochain on at all times (until you fight the TT). The other PLD will tank individual AAs as they are killed one at a time. The Supertank will use Fealty and Rampart at the bottom of the stairs and aggro all the mobs without doing any action to them. He will then run all the way back to the beginning to the location seen in this video at 08 seconds in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IHCCHOLPmE. As you can see, just outside of the circle you enter from there is a protruding lip into the walkway on the left and right side. The PLD will put his back into the lip on the hallway side to the right (East), not the circle entrance side. After running past the 2nd to last lip before getting to the target lip at the entrance circle, run along the wall to try and line all the NMs up. Supertank PLD will not do any action against the NMs so that the WHM in support can spam cures onto him. It is OK for the Supertank PLD to kill the pets, but make sure /autotarget is off.
  • When the Supertank PLD is running by with all the mobs, the other tank will flash EV before it goes pass. At 33 seconds into the video you can see where everyone should stand.
  • Kill in the order of EV > MR > GK > HM > TT. The strategies for killing them is the same as single fights, except WHM is main healer:
  • Recommend using only two Overkill per NM (so only on four of the five AAs, unless CORs get lucky with Wild Card). Designate before entering the BCNM who does what so there is no confusion or wasting of time.
  • The original Soul Voice songs will be wearing off probably around the end of MR, depending on duration gear and how fast the group is. Know how long is left and 2 minutes out from songs wearing off the BRD that came in should put up dummy songs on all parties, then do SV, nightingale/troubadour songs.
  • The PLDs do not need to leave the center during TT's Manafont phase. They can just use Fealty and Rampart with Aegis and will take no damage. PLD might want to use Shield Bash when TT is casting sleepga just in case someone didn't put poison onto themselves like they were supposed to. -- Someone

As of 2021, it is easily doable on VD by a single party. We've done this two ways:

1) Pet job method:
3xPUP 3xSMN
Would be easy with 2xPUP and 4xSMN, but we had what we had XD
Autos tank mobs, one auto tanks the current kill target, and SMN just BP the target mob to death. Avoids all that charm bizness with MR.

2) Standard buffed melee approach:
PUP RUN WAR NIN BRD WHM
Auto tanks all mobs in arena circle. RUN pulls target mob up onto stairs. Our NIN went WAR at first, switched to NIN after first run, it worked fine both ways. BRD was DD BRD, but a healing BRD would be fine too.

Both methods used standard kill order, although we deviated when bad things happened, and it was not a big deal.
Kill order EV > MR > GK > HM > TT
