Talk:Get the Picture
From FFXI Wiki

There are certain areas where the weather they request is extremely rare, basically what I did was take the Magician Spectacles and stay living in those areas until I got the weather. You have to be patient. For example, I spent 3 real life days at Arrapgo Reef until I finally got ice wweather, in this last area, ice weather appeared on a day that was supposed to be sunny and gloomy, similarly, on a day when there was supposed to be snow, there was gloomy, so take this in mind.-

Arrapago Ice
tl;dr - bring Magian Specs. in the 11th, 12th, 1st, and 2nd Vana'diel months (use /clock on to see the month), and just keep checking.
- oh, and also, you have to have an active Magian trial to use the Specs, so start an Empy weapon or something. The weapon doesn't have to be in your inventory, but it does have to be active.
The above user isn't wrong! The forecast is never inaccurate, but often does not report out elemental weather.
- As you can see from the amazingly detailed Somepage weather page, Arrapago Reef really only gets ice weather in substantial amounts in the "winter" months.
- The populated data for the other months ("region 43" in the weather browser) does have some snow, but so little that I would just not bother.
- The weather report only shows two total weathers, so either of these two common cases will not report out snow that actually is going to happen:
- the amount of sunny weather and cloudy weather are both more than 1.25*amount of ice weather for the day
- the amount of either sunny or cloudy weather is more than 1.25*amount of ice weather, and also there's more dark weather than ice weather for the day
- If you're in no rush, drop by the Survival Guide and use the Magian Specs. every three in-game days (a little less than every three hours) and wait for an ice forecast. It's never wrong.
- If you're in a rush, sit around and keep an eye on it. You can't rule out any day, really!
This doesn't really help, since it's not actionable, but at least now you know that the weather forecast from the Specs isn't necessarily complete -Staplerguy (talk) 13:47, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
