Talk:POL-3001

From FFXI Wiki

For Windower users, this error can also be caused by zoning with an uncapped frame rate. Three possible causes and their fixes:

//config FrameRateDivisor 2
  • If you have the Config plugin loaded, be sure that your base frame rate is the game-default 30 FPS. (The "2" value does that.)
    • "1" sets it to 60. This is commonly used by people who aren't me.
    • "0" uncaps it, which is the really dangerous one in terms of getting this error.
//lua u fastcs
  • If you have the FastCS addon loaded, it works by doing the same thing as Config FrameRateDivisor 0 during cutscenes.
    • Many cutscenes have you "change" zones even if your character ends up back in the same place they started, to load assets/background/etc.
The rare and vague one: Try a VPN
  • The fix of last resort when you get a 3001 every time you try to log in across multiple attempts.
    • Generally feels like something is wrong with the combination of your character and the zone you're logging into. Use a VPN - even a free trial will do because FFXI is very low-bandwidth - to log in and move yourself to another zone.
    • (Or have a friend log into your account and move you, like it's 2005 and you're camping Fafnir.)
    • I wish I could give actual technical details here (are you somehow on a bad specific piece of hardware?) but all I know is that it very rarely happens and I've never found a better fix. The problem doesn't even reoccur if you try to go back to the same zone, so it's definitely some kind of weird computer ghost.
