Tonberry Hate is a hidden stat that builds up as you defeat Tonberries. It can be gauged by how much gil it costs for penance (i.e. Hate Reset) at the Tonberry Priest.

Tonberry Hate has a few different effects in game.

Everyone's Grudge (ability)

Depending on the player's level of Tonberry Hate, the monster ability Everyone's Grudge will either do zero damage or several thousands of damage.

There are also NM variations such as Everyone's Rancor or Everyone's Wrath, which is an AoE version that can do ten-thousands of damage against players with maximum hate built up.

Equipment

There are three pieces of gear that all function the same way and do not stack with one another:

• Begrudging Ring
• Rancor Collar
• Rancorous Mantle

• Either piece gives Damage Taken+0~10% and Critical Hit Rate+0~5%, depending on Tonberry Hate.
  • No hate = 0% Critical Hit Rate/Damage Taken
  • Sufficient hate = 5% Critical Hit Rate / 10% Damage Taken
  • Requires less than max reset price hate. People have reported capped potency with as few as 184 kills.

There is also another accessory with a hidden effect that can block the damage of these Tonberry specific moves at the cost of having to hold TP for it to take effect.

• Uggalepih Necklace
• Consumes all current TP in exchange for reducing the damage taken from Everyone's Grudge or Everyone's Rancor.
  • 1,500 TP will reduce the damage by 50%.
  • 3,000 TP will reduce the damage by 100%.

Hate Reset

The quest Everyone's Grudge rewards the Tonberry key (Zilart), which allows accessing the Tonberry Priest to reset Tonberry Hate in exchange for a gil penance at any time.

This can range between 250 - 6,000 gil depending on how much you have accumulated.

The Tonberry Priest is located in the Temple of Uggalepih at (F-11) on Map 1 behind a blank targetable secret door. Fastest route is via the Survival Guide or Voidwatch Warp and heading south.
