Catseye Wings Era Warrior (WEW) Companion Guide

A resource for veteran FFXI players, longtime ACE players, and anyone WEW-curious enough to ask, “How bad could it be?”

Purpose

This guide is intended to be a practical resource hub for Wings Era Warrior (WEW) players.

It does not replace the main Wings Era Warrior page. Instead, it summarizes the major WEW-specific systems, benefits, restrictions, and useful links in one place so players do not have to dig through six pages, three Discord searches, and one guy who “definitely remembers how it worked last patch.”

WEW is not simply ACE with fewer toys. It has its own identity, rewards, travel rules, progression systems, and advantages. This page focuses on the things WEW players actually care about while playing.

WEW Benefits

WEW has restrictions, but it also has several systems that make the mode more rewarding than it may look at first glance.

A Winged Resurgence

A Winged Resurgence is the WEW-exclusive storyline.

Important rewards include:

Reward Why It Matters
Talaria WEW-exclusive travel reward. Later improves after completing the storyline and obtaining Tartarus Platemail.
Celennia Memorial Library Access Unlocks one of the most useful WEW hubs.
Tartarus Platemail Final storyline reward with Treasure Hunter +1 and Library teleport utility.
AWR Progression Rewards Includes various EXP, item, and progression rewards along the storyline.

Why WEWs care:

  • It unlocks major WEW quality-of-life.
  • It gives access to the Celennia Memorial Library.
  • It rewards gear and travel tools designed specifically for the mode.
  • It is required if a WEW later wants to convert to ACE.

Celennia Memorial Library

The Celennia Memorial Library is one of the most important WEW hubs.

Access requires completing A Winged Resurgence Mission 9.

Key benefits include:

  • Access to !chef and !mog commands.
  • Wings C.A. teleports to Jeuno, home city in past and present, and Aht Urhgan.
  • Calico Jones provides Adept Fisherman access and quick warp to Norg.
  • Spicy Traveller gives access to Domain Invasion.
  • Greeter Moogle provides Login Campaign access.
  • Librarian provides Auction House access.
  • The Synthesis book provides crafting bonuses similar to Rusk/Macaron food.

Good to Know

The Library is not just flavor. It becomes a practical hub for WEW characters once unlocked.

Treasure Hunter Advantage

WEW's most notable Treasure Hunter reward comes from Tartarus Platemail, the final reward from A Winged Resurgence.

Item Source Important Stat
Tartarus Platemail A Winged Resurgence completion Treasure Hunter +1

Why WEWs care:

  • TH+1 on an all-jobs body is valuable utility.

Gil for EXP

WEW players receive gil proportional to EXP earned.

  • Weekly cap starts at 500,000 gil.
  • Resets Sunday after Japanese Midnight.
  • The weekly ratio and cap can be increased by redeeming DQ chests from Golilox in Lower Jeuno.

Why WEWs care:

  • Leveling and meriting also generate gil.
  • Helps offset slower progression and reduced convenience.
  • Rewards active play instead of pure market flipping.

Level 75 EXP Chain Bonus

WEW characters receive additional EXP chain bonuses at level 75.

Chain Bonus
0 +0%
1 +5%
3 +15%
4 +20%
5–8 +30%
12–13 +90%
25+ +150%

At chain 25 or higher, Dedication effects receive a QoL boost of +150%, still limited by the ring's maximum bonus.

Maximum Merit Points EXP Boost

Meriting Maximum Merit Points inside the HP/MP merit category grants an EXP/Merit Point boost to level 75 WEW jobs.

Merit Levels Bonus
1–5 5% per level, 25% total
6–10 6% per level, 30% total
11–15 9% per level, 45% total
Total Up to 100% EXP/Merit boost

WEW Restrictions That Matter Most

This is not a full rules page. This is the “remember this before you plan your night” version.

Restriction Practical Impact
No direct Trust use WEW cannot call Trusts. Grouping matters more.
No Records of Eminence No Sparks economy or RoE progression path.
No Gobbie Mystery Box No daily mystery box rewards.
No Survival Guide Warps Travel planning matters.
No Unity Warps Fewer fast travel shortcuts.
No Mounts Chocobos, airships, outposts, boats, and warp items matter.
Home Point Warps Limited Town-only use with a 30-minute cooldown.
Outposts Not Pre-Unlocked Supply Runs matter again. Somehow.
Era-Accurate Crafting / Combat Skill-Ups Slower skilling than ACE.
Level Sync Gear Scaling Disabled Until LB5 Gear above sync level is unequipped; level-appropriate gear matters.
Login Points Are WEW-Specific ACE and WEW have different redemption options.

Travel Reference

Travel is one of the clearest differences between ACE and WEW.

Travel Method WEW Access
Home Points From towns only; 30-minute cooldown.
Survival Guides Disabled.
Unity Warps Disabled.
Mounts Disabled.
Outpost Warps Available after Supply Runs.
Airships / Boats / Chocobos Important again.
Domenic BCNM Warps Available after completing Digging Up Dirt.
Experience Guide Book Warps WEW may use custom Experience Guide book warps as a level 75 job.
Warp Items Era-accurate warp items are usable.
Talaria WEW-exclusive travel reward from A Winged Resurgence.
Tartarus Platemail Enchantment: Recollection teleports to Library.

Useful warp items mentioned on the WEW page include:

  • Nexus Cape
  • Town warp earrings from Marceo
  • Tidal Talisman
  • Moogle Cap
  • HQ Swimwear to Bibiki Bay / Purgonorgo Isle

Grouping and Cross-Mode Play

WEW characters can party with ACE characters.

When grouped:

  • Each mode keeps its own EXP rate.
  • ACE characters are synced down for capped areas or battlefields.
  • WEWs make strong level sync targets for cross-mode play.
  • ACE and WEW can trade and share the same Auction House.
  • WEW can dualbox with ACE.
  • WEW characters cannot directly summon Trusts, but an ACE party leader can call Trusts while grouped.

Good to Know

WEW is not isolated like Crystal Warrior. You still live in the broader CatsEyeXI world with ACE players.

Wardrobe Unlocks

WEW wardrobes are progression-based.

Wardrobe Unlock Source
Wardrobe 1 Current Nation Rank, up to 80 slots at Rank 10.
Wardrobe 2 Rise of the Zilart missions, up to 80 after Awakening.
Wardrobe 3 Chains of Promathia missions, up to 80 after Dawn.
Wardrobe 4 Treasures of Aht Urhgan missions, up to 80 after Ragnarok.
Wardrobe 5 Mini-expansions and key item trade-ins.
Wardrobe 6 Crafting skill; 5 slots per 10 skill per craft.
Wardrobe 7 Various achievements. Speak to Wings C.A. for details.
Wardrobe 8 Venture Points and Obsidian Fragments.

Login Campaign Notes

WEW has different Login Point redemption options than ACE.

Greeter Moogles are located near Mog Houses in:

  • Windurst Walls (C-13)
  • Port San d'Oria (J-10)
  • Port Bastok (J-13)
  • Moogle X in the Celennia Memorial Library

Login point rewards:

  • First login: 500 points
  • Subsequent logins: 200 points

WEW-specific redemption options include Nyzul ??? items, add-on keys, materials, cosmetics, warp items, and other items listed on the main WEW page.

Spatial Anomaly Requirement

Spatial Anomaly is available to players who reach:

  • Level 75
  • Rank 10 in their nation

For WEW, there is an additional requirement:

  • 110 skill in any synthesis craft

The Synthesis book in Celennia Memorial Library can help with this requirement.

Suggested WEW Priorities

This is not a beginner checklist. It is a practical “what should I keep in mind?” priority list for players who already understand FFXI.

Priority Why It Matters
Unlock Outposts WEW travel depends heavily on non-modern travel systems.
Complete Digging Up Dirt Unlocks Domenic BCNM warps.
Progress A Winged Resurgence Unlocks Talaria, Library access, Tartarus Platemail, and other WEW rewards.
Use Celennia Memorial Library Becomes a major WEW hub.
Plan Crafting Eventually Needed for Spatial Anomaly access.
Keep Level-Appropriate Gear Level sync can unequip or weaken inappropriate gear.
Do Not Treat WEW Like ACE This solves roughly half of all WEW problems.

Common WEW Mistakes

  • Assuming ACE travel advice applies.
  • Ignoring A Winged Resurgence because it “sounds optional.”
  • Waiting too long to unlock Outposts.
  • Forgetting that Home Point warps are town-only with a cooldown.
  • Throwing away level-appropriate gear.
  • Forgetting that crafting eventually matters.
  • Treating the Library like flavor text instead of a hub.
  • Comparing WEW progression speed directly to ACE.

FAQ

Is WEW just harder ACE?

No. WEW is more restrictive, but it also has its own rewards, travel systems, storyline, Library hub, EXP/gil systems, and progression identity.

Can WEW party with ACE?

Yes. WEW and ACE can party together, trade, and use the same Auction House.

Can WEW use Trusts?

WEW cannot directly call Trusts. However, an ACE party leader can call Trusts while grouped with WEW.

Can WEW dualbox?

WEW can dualbox with ACE, but only one WEW character may be logged in at a time.

Can WEW convert to ACE?

Yes. A WEW must complete A Winged Resurgence, then trade Talaria and Tartarus Platemail to the Wings C.A. in Celennia Memorial Library.

Why play WEW if ACE is more convenient?

Because convenience is not the only reward.

WEW gives progression more weight, makes travel and unlocks matter again, and offers unique rewards for players who enjoy earning the long way around.

Also, some of us make questionable choices and call it content.
