From FFXI Wiki

Event Schedule

Starlight Celebration 2012 has come to a close.

Games for the Willing and Able!

During the Starlight Celebration, special minigames will be available for adventurers to enjoy. To the victor goes the spoils—items, synthesis materials to create an orchestrion, and sheet music key items to be used with it.

The following NPCs will host the mini-games for the duration of the event:

Estiliphire: Southern San d'Oria (H-9)
Klaas: Port Bastok (K-8)
Rokor-Makor: Windurst Woods (K-12)

New rewards from this year's celebration include:

Event Guides

Minigames (Dream Mittens & Orchestrion)

Note that each game has a "simple version" and an "advanced version." Simple mode rewards can be obtained in any of the three nations. Advanced versions are accessible only while wearing Dream Mittens +1. Each attempt at any game will cost 10 gil.

Port Bastok: Find the Chocobo Game. A Baby Chocobo is hidden in one or two of five treasure chests. The chests are shuffled, then you need to guess which one(s) contain a Baby Chocobo.

  • Simple Mode: One baby chocobo and a bit of distraction.
  • Advanced Mode: Two baby chocobos and a lot of distraction.

Southern San d'Oria: Spot the Differences Game. You are shown two scenes. The second scene will have five differences from the first.

  • Simple Mode: Correctly identify 3 differences
  • Advanced Mode: Correctly identify all 5 differences

Windurst Woods: Guess the Job Game. 5 Tarutaru are dressed in the Dream set. You must guess a job for each Tarutaru. You get ten tries to get it right. Guessing the correct job for a Tarutaru results in a Critical Hit (CH). Guessing a correct job but for the wrong Tarutaru in the lineup results in a Hit (H). Each guess, you're told how many (CH) and (H) you have, but not which Tarutaru they correspond to. Use the process of elimination (and a pen and paper!) to determine the correct order. NOTE: Jobs can be duplicated!

  • Simple Mode: Correctly identify the 5 Tarutaru using: WAR MNK WHM BLM RDM THF
  • Advanced Mode: Correctly identify the 5 Tarutaru using: WAR MNK WHM BLM RDM THF DRK PLD BST

Prizes:

After obtaining all three materials, Orchestrion can be synthesized from the three items using an Earth Crystal (likely a very low level Alchemy or Woodworking synth, can be successfully crafted at level 0).

Goblin Gift-Grabbers! (Dream Trousers/Dream Pants)

A few Goblins haven't quite grasped the spirit of the Starlight Celebration and have mistaken other people's presents for their own! The MHMU is on the lookout for these precious gifts, but needs you to join the search and help set things straight. Simply talk to one of the moogles at the following locations to start saving the holiday season. If the Goblins seem a bit too stingy, talk to a moogle again for a hint or two.

Northern San d'Oria (J-9)
Bastok Markets (G-8)
Windurst Waters (F-9 North)

Trading a Goblin Chocolate to a Goblin Merrymaker will befriend them temporarily. Continue to follow a Goblin after befriending them and talk to them when they stop moving. Occasionally you will receive a key item present from the Goblin. Return to the moogle, who will tell you who the gift-giver was. Bring the present to the gift-giver, avoiding Goblins along the way, to discover who the correct recipient is. Deliver the present to the recipient, while again avoiding Goblins, and then return to the moogle to receive Dream Trousers or Dream Pants. If a goblin you have not befriended sees you at any time you have the gift, the gift may be stolen from you. Repeat this quest with the Dream Trousers or Dream Pants equipped to receive Dream Trousers +1 or Dream Pants +1 The goblins detect by various means, including smell. Trading any goblin a Goblin Chocolate will temporarily stop them from taking your presents.

After speaking with the moogles at the positions above, trading Beastcoins to Goblin Merrymakers will get you a wreath furnishing in each nation. Only one of the many goblins in each area will accept the beastcoin and give the wreath in return, the rest will simply return the beastcoin.
