User:Rubenator/Which Trusts should I use?

Note about getting Trusts

While this guide is intended to help you select which trusts to summon, note that you should still endeavor to collect any/all trusts that you do not own, especially if you do not yet own 86 Trusts. Once you get 86 trusts, you can unlock a level upgrade for all your trusts. Here are the full requirements:

  • Obtain the Job breaker Key Item (ability to earn Capacity Points).
  • Must have completed Jamal's five Ark Angel RoEs, and redeemed the ciphers.
  • Must have at least 86 Trusts in your spell list, not including UC Leaders or other non-permanent trusts.

Once those requirements are met:

  • Talk to Marjory at Ru'Lude Gardens (H-5) to unlock the objectives.
    • This will add Filled to Capacity to RoE Quests 3 under "Other."

Then complete the 3 RoE quests:

  • Filled to Capacity
  • Over Capacity
  • Way Over Capacity

Then return and talk with Marjory, who will give you Memory gem Key Item, which Increases your Trusts' levels.

Tanks

  • Amchuchu - Highest Single Target (Volitile) Enmity generation and Magic Tanking. She can give party wide Fast Cast via Valiance. Will use Runes of current day, till she takes magic damage and then will use barspells and runes to counter the element. Can use One for All. Will attempt to close (interrupt?) skillchains.
  • Ark EV - Best Shield stats and Reprisal. Decent Single target sub-Healer. Rampart. Can Shield Strike stun High tier magic. Tries to close (interrupt?) skillchains.
  • Ark HM - Best Utsusemi (Shadows) Tank that likes to spam WSs. Migawari: Ichi. Not an amazing tank but, he tries.
  • August - Best PDT tank (also has shield). Has upwards of 50% uptime on -50% PDT effect (in addition to shield). Spams random WSs.
  • Valaineral - Best AoE Enmity Generation tank. Heals. Most accessible tank for new player leveling. Can get him very early in the game.

Tank Honorable Mentions

  • Gessho - Alternative Utsusemi (Shadows) Tank.

Melee DPS

  • Ark GK - Decent Damage Dealer. Uses High Jump to shed enmity when tanking. Attempts to close Skillchains.
  • Iroha II - Best Skillchainer in the game, and will do pro/shell on everyone.
  • Matsui-P - Very good DPS (and pairs great with Shantotto II and/or Iroha II). Only available to use sometimes.

Melee DPS Honorable Mentions

  • Rainemard - Due to a bug with Enspell damage calculation with him, probably highest dps char from levels 16 through 60-ish.
  • Tenzen - Decent for newer player leveling. (get during CoP)
  • Zeid II - Relatively easy to get (during RoV). Ground Strike is decent while leveling.

Ranged DPS

Ranged DPS Honorable Mentions

  • Qultada - Mostly a Buffer (and a pretty good one) but, will do WSs (probably interrupting you unless you really need Fusion).
  • Semih Lafihna - Easy to get

Nukers

  • Kukki-Chebukki - For niche nuking strats -- will only cast element of current day.
  • Matsui-P - Will actively magic burst SCs (in addition to closing SCs)
  • Robel-Akbel - For niche nuking strats -- targets elemental weaknesses
  • Shantotto II - Best Magic Burst in the game hands down, also great at making skillchains, extremely high damage with few downsides at all levels, although falls off as you work into endgame gear. Doesn't usually run out of mp, unlike most other nukers.

Nukers Honorable Mentions

  • Adelheid - Easy to get. Will probably blow through MP.

Healers

  • Apururu (UC) & Yoran-Oran (UC) Both in top 4 healers, each with pros and cons. You can only have one of them, and only if you do not have Sylvie. Theirs are the recommended starting unities for most players till you have Monberaux and/or Ygnas. Both will stay at a distance from your engaged target, and will get TP via Regain, and both have Nott, a TP move that restores some of their MP. Both have Na spells and Erase, and Stoneskin.
    • Apururu (UC) - Has both single target Cures, and Curagas. Has a tendency to blow MP immediately by rapidly healing you (like has no issue casting Curaga V if she feels like it would be effective), but can do Convert (not necesarilly at a great time), and Devotion. Will Haste Party leader and melee DPS that are not NIN.
    • Yoran-Oran (UC) - Only Single target Cures. Is quite mana efficient thanks to Afflatus Solace, Conserve MP, and capped Cure Potency. Very high magic evasion for a trust.
  • Monberaux - In top 4 healers, can be slow/distracted sometimes but, doesn't care about silence, never runs out of MP, gives MP to party members ocassionally, useless under amnesia. (takes 11 month time-gated grind to unlock for new player, minimum).
  • Ygnas - In top 4 healers, but has some upsides and downsides, also time consuming to get if you don't have an Ergon weapon already (3ish months time-gated grind minimum for that part, plus Mog Garden completion and completing basically every quest in Adoulin). Strong Single Target Heals. Na spells. Haste. Has AoE TP move, so beware pulling extra things accidentally. TP move that Aoe Heals and gives Regen+30, +25% DEF, and Magic Defense Bonus (1 minute duration). AoE TP Move that gives Haste effect, ATK+25%, Magic Attack Bonus, and mild Enlight Damage (1 minute duration). TP Move that does Light damage and inflcts Rasp.
  • Selh'teus Tp based emergency burst healing and MP restore -- doesn't care about silence. Also will do TP moves that can be used as part of skillchains.

Healer Honorable Mentions

  • Cherukiki Single target healer that prioritizes Regen uptime.
  • Ferreous Coffin Will Raise dead players in your party (aside from yourself, because he poofs when you die), but also likes to blow all mp and interrupt skillchains.
  • Joachim - BRD, but when not singing will do Na spells and single target heals.
  • Kupipi - Queen of status effect removal, especially Cursna. Also easy to get.

Buffers/Debuffers

  • Ajido-Marujido - Prioritizes Dispel (although is still a BLM and therefore may blow through MP).
  • Arciela (I) - "okay" RDM. dispel, haste2/refresh2 only on party leader, slow/para/addle/dispel, single target nukes
  • Arciella II - Tendency to run out of MP due to double magic bursting high tier elemental magic. haste2/flurry2 & refresh2 (Only on herself and party leader), para2/slow2/addle/dispel
  • Chacharoon - takes a while to get but, can inflict Amnesia, which is fairly unique, as well as DEF down 25%, gravity, and Blind.
  • Joachim - BRD. Will do na spells and single target heals. Throws low damage rocks. Favors songs in this order: Paeon(regen effect)(when he is damaged), Ballad(refresh effect)(when his mp < 75%), March(Haste effect), Madrigal(Melee Accuracy), Minuet(Attack), Minne(Defense).
  • King of Hearts - Selfish RDM. haste/refresh only on party leader, Dia3, Phalanx2, Na spells/erase, watch out for Firaga AoE aggro/pull if he can MB it.
  • Koru-Moru Arguably best RDM Debuffer -- haste2/flurry2, refresh2, phalanx2, dia3, distract2, dispel (low priority), single target cures -- although prioritizes buffs, and will blow his MP to cast pro and shell on everyone if you do not have it (or get it via another trust).
  • Sylvie (UC) - Geo bubbles! (which depend on your job) and single-heals/na-spells/erase, haste only on party leader and physical melee DD jobs in pt. Typically not recommended to switch to this Unity unless you have Monberaux and/or Ygnas, otherwise you'll have bad healer choices otherwise.
  • Qultada - Best COR, will also always use XP+ roll if player uses XP bonus ring effect (Dedication). Could arguably lose a star for interrupting your SCs (unless you need Fusion).
  • Ulmia - BRD. Prioritizes Marches most of the time -- ballad somtimes, will not do anything besides sing and look pretty.

Aura

  • All of these are Immortal/Untargetable, and stand around providing an invisible aura (like a geo bubble) around them with varying effect. They do nothing else (although Cornelia will randomly do Emotes... just for fun ;p)
  • Cornelia - haste/atk/acc bubble. Yes that is 5 out of 3 stars. (only available for limited time periods)
  • Brygid - Indi-CHR + Defense Bonus + Magic Defense Bonus
  • Kupofried - +20% XP gain (stacks with Dedication effects and Corsairs Roll). Note that unless you're AoE Cleaving or the like at level 99, you will probably kill more than 20% faster (and/or keep your xp chain better) by using a "real" trust.
  • Kuyin Hathadenna - Indi-Precision (Accuracy Bonus) & Acc/R.Acc + DEX
  • Moogle - Indi-Refresh (+3 @99) + Magic Skill Gain Rate Up
  • Sakura - Indi-Regen (+6 @99) + Combat(Physical) Skill Gain Rate Up
  • Star Sibyl - Indi-Acumen(Magic Atk Bonus) + Magic Accuracy

Utility

  • Adelheid - Will Stun TP moves (also Helix, single target Cures and nukes).
  • Areuhat Niche -- Blood Rage (Crit Rate+) for Domain Invasion Bead farming
  • Ayame - A must have for doing WS Trial skillchains (she will purposely make the WS you're spamming result in a skillchain off of what she does)
  • Ark TT - Sleepga II [handy in some BCs], Stun TP moves, Bio II.
  • Fablinix - will Stun TP moves, and doesn't do much else.
  • Lilisette (1) - Rousing Samba (Crit Rate+) for Domain Invasion Bead farming.
  • Matsui-P - Will Stun TP moves, and reduces enemy tp gain. (only available sometimes)
  • Mayakov - Will do 10% potency Haste samba, and has okay-decent WSs w/ climactic.
  • Mnejing - Will Stun TP moves. Does very little damage (situationally useful for that).
  • Mumor II - Will Stun TP moves
  • Shikaree Z - Ancient Circle for Dragons/Domain Invasion
  • Ullegore - will Stun TP moves -- not as good as Zeid, but decent.
  • Zeid (1) - Will Stun TP moves -- arguably the best at it.

Treasure Hunter (1) Trait Options

  • TH (whether by Player or Trust) does not stack so, only ever need One. And once you have an all jobs TH equipment piece you any necessarily need any of these at all.
  • Aldo
  • Ark MR
  • Lion
  • Lion II
  • Maat
  • Margret
  • Maximilian
  • Nanaa Mihgo
