- Hi Spicyryan, for the BLU spell Saline Coat have you tried in game recently ? When I cast the spell it display 3min in the upper status bar of the game itself but the spell wears off at the 1min remaining mark. There is no "by second" count down like other speel. I did unload any plugin and timed the spell duration manually and it really last 2 minutes for me. --LordAttilas (talk) 14:15, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- There is a bug with the spell at the moment. Where the in game timer reports the duration should be 3 minutes, but the spell is wearing off after 2. This does not mean the spell is supposed to be 2 minutes, and requires a bug report to be made on the official forums. I will edit the page to note there is a bug. --Spicyryan (talk) 18:38, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
Resolving Various Things
I don't know how else to message you on this thing, this seemed like the only way. While you already know I don't quite understand the code or tables entirely used around here.. I am still trying to work with it all. I have to figure out the correct msg method for staff questions.. an I need to figure out why someone else is undoing my work around here page to page.. I didn't come here to fight people who disagree with my edits/formats. Waterdust (talk) 11:42, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
I want to but wanted to make sure this kinda page was the way to be doing anything like that. I'm not even sure how many rollbacks were done in total or why. It's one thing to edit it's another to just "undo" someone elses work without a reason. I'm doing what I can to make my edits look better but thats taking time. My edits are usually done in real time with the game active to confirm what I'm entering here. Waterdust (talk) 16:13, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Your concern is admirable, but I am no longer a staff member. If you want my advice though, text styling should be of value and wordage concise whenever possible. Less it create excess noise or redudancy on a page.
- Otherwise, this edit could use this template in the future. Example: Graubg. Lettuce
--Spicyryan (talk) 17:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
The horn item your referencing is one of my bad edits (there not all like this though >.>), however I felt the data needed to be there no matter what else it be lost. If others have the time to undo my work they could with their editing skill being better improve my work. Least thats how I see things. As for you not being on the admin team.. I do see that in a different log (by sheer chance I stumbled upon it an I know not how) but at the same time.. no one updated the list here on this page if you scroll to the bottom. Waterdust (talk) 21:05, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes I agree in at least putting something there as long as it is simple, as you did. Nothing wrong with helping like that. I've seen your edits/comments and generally I still watch the edits, I simply don't do anything about them anymore. Just like I don't see a reason for myself to get involved in this instance either. Didn't think I'd receive a message about it the next day either, lol.
As for the list, of course they didn't change it. I would have been the person to do that, lol. No one coordinates shit anymore unless you throw it in their faces, like me telling you this publicly.
Anyway, I know having your edit undone can be upsetting, but you didn't do anything that was really wrong or problematic. So just do your thing, keep in mind what I said above, and don't worry about it. Without the few someones like you that donate their time, there be no community or wiki. Then those jokes in the Discord wouldn't have a worthless titles to idly sit on.
Thank you for the time you've given to the community, and I hope you enjoy yourself. --Spicyryan (talk) 21:57, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
A collective effort is great on paper (it seems) but if all the users congregating at the location are unable to remove the toxicity.. or are enabling it then the library and/or all its intentional value they seek to build has no meaning. I only bothered you because your name was on that page I showed you. I don't really understand this sites design an so it makes operating it quite challenging. Especially if the attitude (I encounter most of the time) in summary = "get gud bruh"; that makes learning anything impossible. No one should have to worry about a ban for just trying to question someone else. Also I do appreciate the kind words from you, I'm not sure if your the same person with the same name from SE's forum (who trolled me relentlessly) but if you really are then it seems you improved your personality; otherwise what a coincidence. Waterdust (talk) 12:57, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- A collective effort is nothing without leaders, and then it but a waste without quality leadership.
- I wouldn't say impossible is anything but self-fulfilling. Which I say after learning from nothing on this site a decade ago. The basic editing is easy enough to pick up from the get-go, and then you just encounter stuff over time. Don't worry about a ban. Again, the people in charge of that won't do anything or even notice unless someone tells them, and it have to be pretty bad for that.
Also, everything in context. I didn't often post on the OF, but there aren't many SR's out there. I'm sure I've misbehaved in regards to whatever you are recalling, but there's no interest or motivation for that anymore. So, np, YW, and good luck. --Spicyryan (talk) 14:21, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Just wanted to drop in an see if in your opinion anymore of my edited pages were a total wreck I needed to fix, I tried to dig up what I could an stuff.. I couldn't make the Tu Lia page better for mobile.. the pics just won't adjust to where they belong an maybe you can assist me with that despite not being on the staff side anymore? I just completed a full clean retest for Adoulin Max Fame an waiting to see what happens there. If I'm just bothering you then ignore my post an be as you were.. thanks for reading otherwise. --Waterdust (talk) 10:12, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
I appreciate the consideration, and some of the process to editing has improved. Such as using templates instead of raw text. One of the main issues I see is that you keep editing pages just to change "cutscene" to "cut-scene" everywhere.
Don't worry about making zone pages better on mobile. It is out of your wheelhouse and not something anyone is going to really improve beyond where it is at now. Best of luck and enjoy FFXI. --Spicyryan (talk) 13:29, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Changing "cutscene" to "cut-scene" is done because "cutscene" shows up with red error lines as a grammatical error. It also looks really bad as it looks scrunched together vs my edit and as its accepted as not-a-grammatical error. I see today that the user "Hya" moved some of my content and even went so far as to use my own signature without my permission! Unacceptable! Their user group is not in the admin or staff class, what should I do about this person? I cannot find a proper list of people in charge. --Waterdust (talk) 04:45, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
Your edit was moved because it was bad. This is the reason many of your edits are being revised. There is no room on the main page for the individual's personal experience, that is what the discussion page is for. You have used it correctly in the past so I don't understand why you periodically misuse the main pages. I used your signature because that is how accountability works, it is not my edit, it is yours. The user whose page you are coming to in order to complain is also not in the admin or staff class, so I'm unsure why this discussion is being held here. As for what you can do:
- Stop wasting time editing "cut-scene". This site's information is about uniformity, and making edits based on your browser's spellchecker is anything but.
- Speaking of spellchecker, use it. You often misspell the word "and" as "an" or use the ampersand when not appropriate. This does not provide a clear message to other users who may read your edits.
- Leave your personal experience in the discussion page unless you can show that a major edit is necessary and have the ability to articulate that change correctly. Hya (talk) 14:22, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
Relax, you two. Cutscene, please, the browser spellcheck is not an authority on grammar. Notice I wrote it as spellcheck, and not "spell check" or "spell-check". All three are valid with the non-hyphenated two being commonly accepted. Welcome to English, a shitty language that evolves without a unified structure for these situations.
Now, what matters here and has always been the guiding star on the site is consistency whenever possible. Since you can not effectively "fix" every instance on the site, please keep it "cutscene" for consistency. Thanks, sincerely, your defunct admin/editor with no authority.

Hya I don't know what your supposed to be.. another ghosting admin? a child with an opinion? I can't really tell cuz the search function doesn't say anything more than "auto-group".
I came here to this page seeking help from Ryan cuz of the very attitude your displaying "Hya". Lemme make an example: First time Ryan here had an issue with my edits I got a much nicer approach, even tried to give me advice on how to make things better. An try I have been, though if someone had kindly taken time to talk to me about my "cut-scene" edits maybe.. just maybe I'd of let them slide. As far as I know it's not come up with Ryan until just now, an not once ever from you Hya until now.
An what do I get from you Hya? Ghostly childish edits an not a bit of what was in my example, naturally after enough bs I got tired of your games an sought out someone else. Your not approachable "CLEARLY", ya don't have anything I would expect from a staff grade attitude. I took issue with you throwing my signature like I alone moved it, that was what sent me here as such. You took no measure to add that you moved it. Look at how ya left things before you whine.
Ya weren't there to help with the fame accuracy for adoulin, ya only pick on my edits, you never actually help so again.. look at how this looks.
Right now I've got someone complaining about the main pages for RoV 2-5 and 2-6 an how they think they need to be switched order wise cuz they want me to run those asap and correct them. Is Hya going to start running through ALL the mission pages and start fixing them? I seriously doubt that. Meanwhile I AM running multiple characters thru the story lines for "consistency".. weird tho.. I was just accused of doing a bad job though.
If you can't make argument I can believe, it doesn't matter what your point is. I feel the editing for this site needs less elitism and more hard tested accuracy. I fully expect Hya to give zero mature an constructive conversation after posting this. Ryan your not staff anymore but you had a better first impression than this clown. --Waterdust (talk) 05:52, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
Well, well, well, how the turn tables...
In all seriousness, resentment and hostility aren't gonna get us anywhere here, and I don't think the behavior I'm seeing from you is honestly any better than his. Hya is not "another ghosting admin", though the staff and especially the pseudo-staff at BG are, and have been for quite some time, unless something is thrown directly in their faces. I'm not a "ghosting admin" either nor staff, I crossed the Rubicon, and was abandoned with the usual passive aggressive hostility, lack of understanding, and entitlement, but I digress.
Hya is a veteran in the community, but he has seemingly become very jaded and no longer suffers foolishness, which I can empathize with. If I had to guess, Hya still feels compelled to watch over the community because he is acutely aware that the social systems in place within it have eroded over time. He hasn't yet surrendered to the idea letting community resources erode as well. None of this is to call you a fool or anything, but I understand to a degree how it colors interactions, and how he can get from 0 to "fuck it" with others, here we are.
That all being said, I did directly mention the behavior in May that lead to this confrontation. This is a silly thing to be fighting over, but it wasn't like you weren't told like you claimed. If it needs repeating, consistency is more important, and "cutscene" is used through the site. Changing it is pointless work that creates needless inconsistency, IMHO.
I'm somewhat of an arrogant self-made martyr myself (I'm memeing—relax) so I'm very unimpressed by the "IM DOING X AND HE ISN'T" schtick, even if you are only saying it in anger and frustration. I've also run through those very Adoulin Missions, multiple times over in fact, and edited or looked over every mission page for them. Much of which is the current basis you'd be allegedly fixing. That goes for all missions on the site pretty much, but hey nothing is perfect, no player or editor is.
I can't tell you what to do Waterdust, and I can see that you are upset by feeling you've been treated unfairly, no one likes that, I know. The root of this is very much in difference between your perception of editing and presenting information, and Hya's. What I would suggest first, is thinking about if the edit has value and is really needed. Adding a hyphen to a word that isn't a strict grammar correction as the only edit, would suggest it's not valuable or needed. Save your time and everyone else's, win-win. Second, just think about the way something reads or how it fits within the rest of the page, the bigger picture and all. This whole site is about conveying information to the reader. Outside of a guide, the page shouldn't really read like a different author stylized a fraction of it.
Anyway, I am sure this response was somewhat of a mixed bag, but I'm not on anyone's side here, and those are my wordy thoughts. Best wishes, thanks for caring about the site, and I'm here chilling if I'm needed.
