As of the November 5, 2013 version update, a separate -1 weapon path of creation was implemented, requiring only the coins, Devious Dice, and Liminal Residue at larger than normal quantities; allowing players to skip camping the NMs for the Magian trials.
- These paths start with a level 80 -1 version of the final weapon, taken from the Splintery Chest.
- Normal creation, and reduced Coin, Dice, and Residue cost amounts, requires a lengthy camping of various Notorious Monsters all over Vana'diel before reaching the Level 80 trial stage.
- Therefore, should a player seek to forge one of these weapons solely for the ability to unlock Empyrean Weapon Skills, it is recommended to do the expedited -1 weapon path and trade increased dice, coins, and residue rather than camp Notorious Monsters for these weapons.
