Lore
'Lionheart' was the honorary epithet given to Richard 1st of England who reigned between 1189 and 1199. 'Richard the Lionheart' as he was known earned his title for his prowess as a great swordsman and military commander, both traits highlighted during his conflict with the legendary Muslim commander Saladin during the Third Crusade. Richard's sigil, the three lions on a red background, remains a prominent coat of arms in English society.
In series lore, the Lionheart is the famous, and ultimate weapon of Squall Leonhart in Final Fantasy VIII.
