Nyzul Isle Investigation/Nyzul Isle Investigation for Dummies

| ◆ Navigation | ◆ Guide Information | |
| Final Fantasy XI is a complex game with an incredible amount of content and multi-layered, overlapping systems. Naturally, experiencing it for the first time can be confusing and overwhelming. The goal of this guide is to help new players navigate and understand its systems as easily as possible. | ||
◆ Content Information
A very newbie friendly Nyzul Isle Investigation guide. This guide will focus on explaining systems and on how to approach the content as easily as possible. I highly recommend reading the dedicated and related wiki pages as well as other, more in-depth guides alongside it.

How it Works
General Info
When you first enter the lobby, you will receive a
Runic disc by interacting with the Rune of Transfer. This Permanent Key Item automatically saves your personal Floor progress. Your progress is saved every 5 Floors.
When you attempt this for the first time, you start from Floor 1. Once inside, the you'll have 30 minutes to progress.
Upon entering each floor, you will receive a random Floor Objective message, and the Rune of Transfer - which allows you to progress to the next floor - will only activate after completing this random objective.
Each floor has a random layout and no in-game maps are available. Navigating them can sometimes be a bit confusing, so make sure to bring your
Tenshodo Certified Navigator's Diploma.
...jokes aside, maps of the floors exist, but not in-game. I recommend using the in-game compass, and either draw your own floor maps as you go (I prefer this method, as I find it to be quicker), or use the the premade ones listed below and add your own notes to them.
Nyzul Tokens
Often referred to as just Tokens, this currency is obtained by successfully completing Floors, by exiting using the Rune of Transfer before time is up.
These tokens are used for:

Obtaining a Vigil Weapon
You can obtain Vigil Weapons two ways:
- They have a chance of dropping from the NMs you randomly encounter on Floors.
- The weapon they drop is random. (And I have a gut feeling the game favors some Jobs more than others... or I was just unlucky!)
- They are a (G)uaranteed drop from the Floor 100 Boss.
- Two weapons will drop from the Boss. One will be a weapon matching your Job (or the Job of the player who queued the party into the instance - always referred to as "Party Leader" in this guide) and the other one will be random.
- This is different for Geomancers and Runefencers, as they do not have a weapon. If the Party Leader is on one of these two Jobs, both of the weapons from the Floor 100 Boss will be random.
Solo & Party Climb
Floor Maps
Maps of the floors exist, but not in-game. I recommend using the in-game compass, and either draw your own floor maps as you go (I prefer this method, as I find it to be quicker), or use the the premade ones listed below and add your own notes to them.
Each floor will have a different map. There are only 6 maps, but the layout will be random every time, because the doors connecting each room can be found open or closed off.
The blue lines separating the rooms indicate doors that might be open or closed:

How to Enter
Entering Solo or as Party Leader
| The Runic Seal (entrance) to the left, Shahayl to the right. |
Everytime you wish to enter the Nyzul Isle Investigation instance, you'll have to repeat these steps:
- Talk with Rytaal (Aht Urhgan Whitegate, Commissions Agency, K-10) to obtain an
Imperial Army I.D. tag.
- If you already have a different active Assault mission, you'll have to abandon it by selecting ➔ Cancel appliaction. then take another I.D tag.
- In the same room, talk with Sorrowful Sage (L-9) to grab
Nyzul Isle Assault orders.
- View mission list. ➔ Nyzul Isle Investigation. ➔ Yes.
- Go outside and enter the Chamber of Passage right across, at (K-8). Once inside, go up the staircase and interact with the Runic Portal (L-7) to be automatically teleported to the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins (Map 5).
- Walk west, you'll find the Runic Seal door and an NPC on the right named Shahayl.
- Grab an
Assault armband from Shahayl, it is required to enter.
- Yes. ➔ Yes. (50 credits)
- You will now be able to queue into the lobby by interacting with the Runic Seal.
- Nyzul Isle Investigation. ➔ Yes.
- Inside the lobby you will be able to enter the instance by interacting with the Rune of Transfer.
Once you exit the instance, you'll be teleported back to the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins (Map 5) and you'll be able to use one of the Runic Portals at (J-8/9) to teleport back to the Chamber of Passage.
- ...basically get
Imperial Army I.D. tag ➔ get
Nyzul Isle Assault orders ➔ get
Assault armband ➔ get in ➔ get out ➔ repeat!
Entering As a Party Member
Everytime you wish to enter the Nyzul Isle Investigation instance to get taxi'd from Floor 96, you'll have to repeat all the steps above except for the
Assault armband.
- Only the Party Leader (the person interacting with the Runic Seal and queueing the party into the instance) has to grab it.
- ...basically if you're not the Party Leader, get
Imperial Army I.D. tag ➔ get
Nyzul Isle Assault orders ➔ get in ➔ get out ➔ repeat!
◆ Questions
Is this soloable?
- Short Answer - Yes!
- Long Answer - Also Yes! A low geared Lv.99 player can easily kill everything. Your only enemy is TIME. That's why I recommend having a way to speed up your movement and avoid unnecessary fights. AND unnecessary walking around. Keep maps on the side, and note down where you find those stupid lamps.
How long would it take?
- If done solo, it's very luck dependent. If you end up having to get to 100 because your weapon just WON'T drop, it will take a while, but less than 10 hours. I (Lv.99 COR/DNC) was unlucky and had to go for the guaranteed Floor 100 drop.
- Including the Floor 100 drops, these are the weapons I got on my first, full run: PLD x2 BLM x2, MNK x3, BST x5, RNG x2, BRD x3, DRG x2, BLU x2, SCH x1, PUP x1, SMN x1, THF x1, DNC x1, COR x1.
