Prerequisites

• Must be in possession of a Chocobo license.
• Be a main job level of 20 or greater.
• Must be in possession of the Map of the Jeuno area

Acquiring Your First Mount

• Speak with Mapitoto the part-taru part-dysfunctional-chocobo in Upper Jeuno (G-7) to start the quest Full Speed Ahead!.
• Complete the quest's racing minigame to obtain the ♪ Raptor Mount item.

Obtaining Mounts

• Trade any "♪ Astral Notebook" item to Mapitoto to receive the corresponding key item.
  • Key Items are simply labeled as "♪ [mount name] companion".
• You may also register your Chocobo Whistle, enabling you to call your personal chocobo through the mount system menu.
  • The attributes of the mount (speed and riding time) will vary depend on how you raised it. Just like how it would if you called it with the whistle.
  • You are still able to dig while mounted to your personal chocobo.
  • If you reregister your old chocobo or register a new chocobo to your Chocobo Whistle, you will have to trade it anew to Mapitoto.

Using Your Mount

• Travel to an area where mounting is allowed.
  • This is any area you can ride a chocobo.
    • As of 09/06/2016 Update this now includes all outside Seekers of Adoulin Areas.
• Select Mount from Abilities in the action menu or main menu.
• Select your desired mount from among those displayed.
  • You may also call your mount by using the text command “/mount [mount name]”.
  • You may not remount any mounts until at least one minute has passed since your previous mount was called.
  • You are unable to mount while on a monster’s enmity list.
• You can dismount by selecting “dismount” from the action menu.
• Identical to Chocobos, riding mounts last for a limit of 30 minutes before needing to be remounted.
