Walkthrough
Note: The guide below is copied from previous years; there are no changes.
- You can use "motion" at the end of your /emotes in order to prevent chat log spam. For example, "/slap motion".
- It is recommended to make macros for each emote, to ensure you can use them in time.
As with every MHMU event, mayhem ensues. And like everything else in Vana'diel, everything will fall apart if you don't pay attention to it. Your goal is to escort Prince Yahiko and Princess Amdina through the town to finish the play. But you must overcome several obstacles!
- Speak to one of the Moogles at the above locations.
- Note: You can join mid-round, and still receive credit.
- You must speak to a moogle at least once during the event, or else the NPCs will ignore you.
- Prince Yahiko and Princess Amdina will proceed through the city at the locations listed below.
- In Northern San d'Oria they spawn at (F-5) in front of the Smithing Guild and travel a circuitous route to (F-7).
- In Bastok Markets they spawn at (E-11) and travel to (J-9).
- In Windurst Waters they spawn at (F-7) / (G-7) (near the home point) and walk in a counter-clockwise circle around the zone back to their spawn spots.
- The Prince and Princess will stop at specific intervals either to deliver lines, or for the Princess to think out loud.
- When she is thinking, her thoughts will be in parenthesis (Like this).
- When the Princess has positive thoughts, nod at her with the /yes or /nod emote to encourage her.
- "positive" here generally means thoughts boosting her own confidence in her acting role, or thoughts of admiring the prince.
- When the Princess has negative thoughts, shake your head with the /no emote to get her to dismiss them.
- "negative" here generally means thoughts decreasing her own confidence, of disliking the prince or her acting role, or thoughts about dating men other than the prince.
- When prompted with a thought, only your first response to that thought is counted. As in, if you emote /yes and then /no, only the /yes is counted for that prompt.
- After a thought receives a response, the princess will sometimes have a follow-up thought on the same topic. A correct response will have a positive follow-up, while an incorrect response will have a negative follow-up. Follow-up thoughts don't linger as long as regular thoughts, and don't need a response. Folow-ups tend to be skipped if the prince gets distracted.
- The princess also has a thought when the prince gets distracted - "prince distracted" thoughts don't need a response, just focus on slapping the prince to un-distract him.
- The princess will occasionally backtrack to the previous dialog point. This seems to be based on a hidden frustration value when she hasn't received enough correct yes/no responses.
- The frustration value does not reset between runs of the event - so if the princess was frustrated (or not frustrated) from previous runs, that will carry over to later runs.
- The princess has two thoughts when she backtracks - one when she starts to backtrack, and one where she resumes moving forward. Backtrack thoughts don't need a response.
- When the Princess has positive thoughts, nod at her with the /yes or /nod emote to encourage her.
- When she is thinking, her thoughts will be in parenthesis (Like this).
- A lady named Loaranne, Hiltrude, or Mihn Rhettorah (in Northern San d'Oria, Bastok Markets, and Windurst Waters respectively) will appear in random spots multiple times per procession. They try to distract the Prince, and if they succeed multiple times, it will end the performance.
- You can use the /wave emote to get her attention, causing her to turn to look in your direction. You can use this to turn her so that she will not aggro the Prince as he walks by.
- She will eventually lose interest in you, she may turn back and aggro the Prince.
- Successfully distracting her will require at least one other player helping or very good timing. Her aggro distance is hard to judge, and she only pays attention to you for a couple seconds. If you coordinate your waves with another player, you can keep her distracted.
- If you don't succeed at distracting her, and she walks up to the Prince, spam the /slap emote on the Prince to get him back on course. As long as you slap him every time, you can still finish the course.
- Even if she walks up multiple times while they are walking on the path, just keep slapping him so he continues. Completion is just based on him finishing the procession, not on whether or not she got in his way.
- You can use the /wave emote to get her attention, causing her to turn to look in your direction. You can use this to turn her so that she will not aggro the Prince as he walks by.
- When you reach the end of the procession and the NPCs speak the closing lines ("Prince Yahiko, I shall never forget our reunion this day." / "Nor I, my dear princess."), speak to Princess Amdina to receive your reward.
- You may need to speak to her multiple times, if the dialogue isn't finished yet. If she turns to face you, then that should lead into the reward.
- If she doesn't face you despite talking to her several times, there is a chance you didn't get participation credit for that run to earn a reward. You'll just need to try another run.

Rewards
Rewards are given in tiers, with the next tier's item given if the player possesses the all previous tiers' items in any of their inventories.
- Tier 1 is given if the player has none of the items. If they possess tier 1's item, they get tier 2's item. If they possess both tier 1 and tier 2's items, they get tier 3's item, etc.
- If a lower tier's item is missing, the player will receive that item to "close the gap".
- Items stored with a Porter Moogle or Event Storage NPC are not considered to be in the player's inventory.
Note: Due to the tier system, it's recommended to pull the previous year's rewards from your storage locations and hold them in your inventory, if you have them. This way, you only need to do the event once for the newest reward, and then once daily for the daily key.
