Moogle Meetings

Stop by at the following locations and say hello to our cuddly little friends for your very own invitation!
Northern San d'Oria (D-8) / Bastok Markets (G-8) / Windurst Waters (north side) (F-5)

Walkthrough

Note: The guide below is copied from previous years; there are no changes.

  • You can use "motion" at the end of your /emotes in order to prevent chat log spam. For example, "/slap motion".
  • It is recommended to make macros for each emote, to ensure you can use them in time.

As with every MHMU event, mayhem ensues. And like everything else in Vana'diel, everything will fall apart if you don't pay attention to it. Your goal is to escort Prince Yahiko and Princess Amdina through the town to finish the play. But you must overcome several obstacles!

  • Speak to one of the Moogles at the above locations.
    • Note: You can join mid-round, and still receive credit.
    • You must speak to a moogle at least once during the event, or else the NPCs will ignore you.
  • Prince Yahiko and Princess Amdina will proceed through the city at the locations listed below.
    • In Northern San d'Oria they spawn at (F-5) in front of the Smithing Guild and travel a circuitous route to (F-7).
    • In Bastok Markets they spawn at (E-11) and travel to (J-9).
    • In Windurst Waters they spawn at (F-7) / (G-7) (near the home point) and walk in a counter-clockwise circle around the zone back to their spawn spots.
  • The Prince and Princess will stop at specific intervals either to deliver lines, or for the Princess to think out loud.
    • When she is thinking, her thoughts will be in parenthesis (Like this).
      • When the Princess has positive thoughts, nod at her with the /yes or /nod emote to encourage her.
        • "positive" here generally means thoughts boosting her own confidence in her acting role, or thoughts of admiring the prince.
      • When the Princess has negative thoughts, shake your head with the /no emote to get her to dismiss them.
        • "negative" here generally means thoughts decreasing her own confidence, of disliking the prince or her acting role, or thoughts about dating men other than the prince.
      • When prompted with a thought, only your first response to that thought is counted. As in, if you emote /yes and then /no, only the /yes is counted for that prompt.
      • After a thought receives a response, the princess will sometimes have a follow-up thought on the same topic. A correct response will have a positive follow-up, while an incorrect response will have a negative follow-up. Follow-up thoughts don't linger as long as regular thoughts, and don't need a response. Folow-ups tend to be skipped if the prince gets distracted.
      • The princess also has a thought when the prince gets distracted - "prince distracted" thoughts don't need a response, just focus on slapping the prince to un-distract him.
      • The princess will occasionally backtrack to the previous dialog point. This seems to be based on a hidden frustration value when she hasn't received enough correct yes/no responses.
        • The frustration value does not reset between runs of the event - so if the princess was frustrated (or not frustrated) from previous runs, that will carry over to later runs.
        • The princess has two thoughts when she backtracks - one when she starts to backtrack, and one where she resumes moving forward. Backtrack thoughts don't need a response.
  • A lady named Loaranne, Hiltrude, or Mihn Rhettorah (in Northern San d'Oria, Bastok Markets, and Windurst Waters respectively) will appear in random spots multiple times per procession. They try to distract the Prince, and if they succeed multiple times, it will end the performance.
    • You can use the /wave emote to get her attention, causing her to turn to look in your direction. You can use this to turn her so that she will not aggro the Prince as he walks by.
      • She will eventually lose interest in you, she may turn back and aggro the Prince.
      • Successfully distracting her will require at least one other player helping or very good timing. Her aggro distance is hard to judge, and she only pays attention to you for a couple seconds. If you coordinate your waves with another player, you can keep her distracted.
    • If you don't succeed at distracting her, and she walks up to the Prince, spam the /slap emote on the Prince to get him back on course. As long as you slap him every time, you can still finish the course.
      • Even if she walks up multiple times while they are walking on the path, just keep slapping him so he continues. Completion is just based on him finishing the procession, not on whether or not she got in his way.
  • When you reach the end of the procession and the NPCs speak the closing lines ("Prince Yahiko, I shall never forget our reunion this day." / "Nor I, my dear princess."), speak to Princess Amdina to receive your reward.
    • You may need to speak to her multiple times, if the dialogue isn't finished yet. If she turns to face you, then that should lead into the reward.
    • If she doesn't face you despite talking to her several times, there is a chance you didn't get participation credit for that run to earn a reward. You'll just need to try another run.

Below is a (partial) list of possible princess thoughts:

San d'Oria princess thoughts

Positive

  • (Do my eyes deceive me? It-it's that world famous theatrical director! Could he perchance have come here to observe my performance?)
    • Correct follow-up: (He's staring straight at me--there's no mistaking it! What more of a blessing from the Goddess do I need than this? The time has come for me to shine!)
    • Incorrect follow-up: (But then again, why would a person of his standing travel all the way here for me, a nameless actress? It's naught but a coincidence...)
  • (Etch me now into your memory, San d'Oria, for the humble actress whom you behold this day shall tomorrow become an intercontinental star!)
  • (Never before had I dreamed that acting could be so uplifting an experience. It's as though I was born to entertain!)
  • (The trickiest part in the routine fast approaches... Will I be able to survive it unscathed?)
  • (It feels... uncannily natural to be playing this role. Could it be that I was the princess in a past life?)

Negative

  • (Rumors of my co-star's insufferable womanizing habits have been battering my ears without cease.)
    • Correct follow-up: (But whatever the truth may be, allowing my mind to stray to such irrelevant thoughts in the midst of a performance serves me not in the least.)
  • (The crowd's turnout today is depressingly poor...)
    • Correct follow-up: (On second thought, it's merely a quiet time of the day. I shouldn't read so deeply into it.)
  • (Hasn't it occurred to anyone that this whole event makes moke of a historically significant tale?)
    • Correct follow-up: (But then again, it can be said that it serves to preserve knowledge and interest in classic literature. In the end, is that not the most important thing of all?)
  • (My throat grows hoarse from all this repetition...)
    • Correct follow-up: (But then again, a clear, resonant voice comes not from the throat, but the stomach. I needn't fret.)
  • (Is he truly the experienced actor that he purports to be? Every line he spits out sounds so... forced.)
    • Correct follow-up: (All the same, it cannot be denied that he is giving it his all. I suppose it's a trifle early to dismiss him.)
  • (But then again, what future could there possibly be for an unremarkable actress such as myself in this cutthroat world?)
  • (Oh, of all the times to be suffering from an acting slump...)
  • (To think that I poured my heart into preparing for this role only to be met with indifference...)
  • (Did Amdina truly love Yahiko? The princess as she is portrayed in the tale is one thing, but reality could well be different...)

Prince distracted

  • (Hmph, another shameless festival-goer who knows not where the line is drawn...)

Princess backtracks

  • Start: (Ack... Every excruciating second spent beside this walking, talking embodiment of incompetence drives me closer to insanity. Best I leave now and preserve what's still intact of my mind.)
  • End: (Well, fancy that. I hadn't expected anything resembling ad-libbing from this one. This warrants a second chance.)
Bastok princess thoughts

Positive

  • (Aaah... How wonderful life would be if I had a boyfriend like him. But do I deserve such happiness...?)
  • (Just walking beside him makes my heart beat like crazy! Have I finally mastered method acting? Or is this something... more?)
  • (I never imagined my co-star would be so handsome! <Sigh> I wish time would stand still...)
  • (Some day my prince will come...)
  • (Why am I doubting myself like this? After all, even he complimented me on being perfect for the role, the princess reborn! I've got to be more confident!)
  • (He must be really popular with the girls... I wonder what he thinks of me?)
  • (This feeling... it's undeniable. I...I've fallen for him. Somebody, tell me what to do!)
  • (My co-star... he's so kind, handsome, and intelligent... Perfect in every way!)

Negative

  • (The same rehearsed lines over and over... This is getting boring. Couldn't he ad-lib or something?)
    • Correct follow-up: (What was I complaining about, I wonder? It doesn't matter at all that we're just trading lines. Being with him here is more than enough!)
  • (He sure is confident around women... Too confident...)
  • (He's just a despicable womanizer! He may be a good actor, but the disguise doesn't fool me!)
  • (He hasn't said a word for ages now. Doesn't he like my company?)
  • (He sure does walk slowly. Shouldn't we be proceeding at a faster pace?)
  • (On second thought...maybe I'm just a bit run-down. That could explain why my heart's racing like this.)
  • (Maybe we're just not compatible with each other? If that's the case, there's nothing I can do...)

Prince distracted

  • (Is this shameless woman trying to seduce him!?)

Princess backtracks

  • Start 1: (And I thought he was a good actor. How disappointing...)
  • Start 2: (Maybe it'd be better if I quit playing this role...)
  • End: (He...he really cares for me! Deep inside my heart, I knew it all along...)
Windurst princess thoughts

Positive

  • (He's so dreamy-weamy to look at from this angle. I could stare at his profile all day!)
    • Correct follow-up: (Aaah! Any more of this and my legs will turn into butter!)
  • (His portrayal of Yahiko's love and devotion for Amdina feels incredibly authentic. It's hard to believe that it's all just an actaru. Could it be that he's actually...smitten with me?)
    • Correct follow-up: (How should I reply if he asks me out aftaru the event is over? Nooo, I need more time to thinky-wink over my answer!)
  • (I've never feltaru so comfortable being with someone before. I wonder what this means...)
    • Correct follow-up: (Waaah! My poor little heart is beating like crazy-wazy! What's happening to me?)
  • (Walking side by side with my co-star like this...it's as though we're really-weally a couple!)
    • Correct follow-up: (I've never thought to look at a colleague in this lightaru before, but he's dangerously close to being the man of my dreamy-weams.)

Negative

  • (If only a man--preferably a dark and handsome one--would bursty-worst onto the scene and rescue me from my boredom...)
    • Correct follow-up?: (Ugh... And I thought raising chocobos was a drag. A bit of unscripted excitementaru would be welcome right about now...)
  • (The more I play the role of Princess Amdina, the more I find myself detestaruing her.)
    • Correct follow-up: (But this is probably-wobably just a skewed interpretation of her personality. I'll betaru she was a real sweetheart in real life.)
  • (Th-that girl--she was auditioning for the role of Princess Amdina alongside me! I knew I had seeny-ween her somewhere before. Hmm...the crowd seems to be paying more attention to her.)
    • Correct follow-up: (Snap out of it! I'm the one who was chosen to play the princess, not her! She may not be bad to look at, but there's little-wittle else taht could be said in the positive.)
  • (All the men in Windurst will be like putty-wutty in my hands by the time this event is over. Teehee!)
    • Correct follow-up: (Hmm, where did all the guys disappear to? Talk about a disappointing turnoutaru...)
  • (I wish I could justaru enjoy the festival as one of the townsfolk. Maybe I could wrap up this shifty-wift a little early.)
    • Correct follow-up: (I can't believe I even considered playing hookey! An actress is nothing if not professional!)
  • (This has been bothering me for a while, but how did a tiny Tarutaru like me ever-wever land the role of Princess Amdina?)
    • Incorrect follow-up: (They mightaru not be showing it, but I just know the townsfolk are ridiculing me behind my back...)
  • (I can be so cold and heartless sometimes. Shamey-wame on me!)

Prince distracted

  • (Of all the nerve! I'm not lettaruing you lay a finger on him, you feline floozie!)

Princess backtracks

  • Start: (Oooh, the guy that walked by just now--if I could just tradey-wade linkpearls with him...)
  • End: (A-are those tears welling up in his puppy-wuppy dog eyes!?)

Rewards

Rewards are given in tiers, with the next tier's item given if the player possesses the all previous tiers' items in any of their inventories.

  • Tier 1 is given if the player has none of the items. If they possess tier 1's item, they get tier 2's item. If they possess both tier 1 and tier 2's items, they get tier 3's item, etc.
  • If a lower tier's item is missing, the player will receive that item to "close the gap".
  • Items stored with a Porter Moogle or Event Storage NPC are not considered to be in the player's inventory.

Note: Due to the tier system, it's recommended to pull the previous year's rewards from your storage locations and hold them in your inventory, if you have them. This way, you only need to do the event once for the newest reward, and then once daily for the daily key.
