Getting Started

The Suit Has A Built-In Translator

She flutters about in consternation.

Speak with Babban Ny Mheillea in one of the following locations:

She will emote at you and hand you the following:

Put them on and speak to her once more to begin the event.

Objective

Running of the Mandragora

A Shard of Sunlight.

You will have three minutes to collect Shards of Sunlight and return to Babban Ny Mheillea.

  • You will be level synched to level 1 and warped to a random spot on the map.
  • Shards of sunlight will appear randomly around the zone and give a certain number of shards. Simply click on them as you run by.
    • Wearing the +1 version of the Mandragora Suit set will increase rewards.
      • Wearing one piece will double shards received.
      • Wearing both pieces will quadruple shards received.
  • Shards of sunlight start out as 5 shards, and each time they are collected the amount reduces by 1 until they despawn
  • A Shard of sunlight location can only be interacted with once per game until another player interacts with it. Ideally you can run with another person and take turns clicking, getting all the sunlight.
  • You may use the Homepoint warps without penalty.
  • You will lose your shards if time runs out or you zone.
    • Time keeps progressing as you begin to talk to Babban Ny Mheillea to select to turn your shards in.

Easy, right? Well SE thought so too so you have several hazards to be cautious of.

Babban Brigade

Babban's buddies are patrolling the zone, trying to keep the sun all to themselves. Similar to the goblin merrymakers in the Starlight Celebration you may be caught and penalized by these NPCs.

  • The treant Darach will reduce your time remaining by 15 seconds.
  • The malboro Bryher will inflict gravity for 15 seconds.
  • The three mandragora Babban's Progeny will steal 2 shards.
  • The goobbue Abenzio will steal 20 shards.
  • The cactuar Camlin will steal a percentage of the currently-held shards. The amount seems to range from about 37-57%.

Wearing the +1 version of the Mandragora Suit set will also increase penalties and the detection range of the Babban Brigade with each piece of +1 worn.

  • Wearing one piece will double penalties received.
    • Darach will reduce time by 30 seconds.
    • Bryher will inflict gravity for 30 seconds.
    • Babban's Progeny will steal 4 shards.
    • Abenzio will steal 40 shards.
  • Wearing both pieces will triple penalties received.
    • Darach will reduce time by 45 seconds.
    • Bryher will inflict gravity for 45 seconds.
    • Babban's Progeny will steal 6 shards.
    • Abenzio will steal 60 shards.

Solar Phenomena

At the top of each Vana'diel hour, there is a chance of a "solar phenomenon", which is announced in the chat. While this is active, more sunlight shard spots will spawn, but Babban's friends will also move faster. The sun will return to normal at the end of the hour.

Strategy

  • It is more important to get back to Babban Ny Mheillea to turn in your shards rather than collecting as many as you can. You can always play again to get more seeds.
  • If you have no shards to begin with, don't worry about being caught by the Babban's Progeny (Mandragoras).
    • If you have 0 shards and are near both a shard point and a Progeny simultaneously, let the Progeny hit you first and then collect the shards after.
  • Home Points in the same zone can be used to traverse around and dodge mobs without penalty.
  • Southern San d'Oria is an easier zone to do the event, while Windurst Walls is more difficult due to its circular track making mobs less avoidable.
  • If aiming to get all the rewards, buy and wear the +1 masque and suit as soon as possible.
    • For Curator Moogle trades that require trading in the +1 masque and suit, save up 1,000 seeds before doing the trade, so you can immediately buy the +1 gear again afterwards. Alternatively, store a set in the Porter Moogle, then buy a second and trade that, and retrieve the set from the Porter Moogle afterwards. Note that you will need to wear the normal masque + suit again for the brief period where you don't have the +1s.
