General Information
Dancer is one of the most versatile jobs in the game, sporting party-wide utility in Haste Samba, its many Steps, powerful spot healing in Curing Waltz, and ability to dish out a lot of damage.
Pros
- Low-man friendly.
- Extreme high damage potential.
- Extremely versatile, can do almost everything well.
- Support job disguised as a pure damage job disguised as a support job.
Cons
- Magic Evasion isn't really the highest.
- Lower attack compared to Heavy DDs.
- Demands higher execution than most jobs.
- The gap between a newer dancer and a veteran is wide.
Unlocking Dancer
Your first steps into the tutelage of one of Alexei Mayakov's students starts with the quest Lakeside Minuet found in Upper Jeuno (G-7).

Equipment
Weapons
Dancer gets to dual wield, but not all daggers are made to be the star of the show. Some are meant to play backup to the others, but they're still pivotal to the performance!
Mainhands
- Pivotal for Evisceration spam, as its +50% Evisceration Damage carries across all hits.
Kaja Knife is fine until you can get your hands on a Pulse Weapon.- Obtained from Ambuscade.
- Needed for Rudra's Storm zerg strategies.
- Probably the first REMAP you actually go for.
- Obtained from upgrading
Peeler through the Trial of the Magians.
- It's a Prime Weapon. It's the endgoal.
- A 6 month real life wait due to needing 15x
Voracious Psyche. - Started from Gama-Shama after completion of the quest The Prime Weapons.
- Still a fairly strong option due to Pyrrhic Kleos being fTP Replicating in conjunction with
Hoxne Ampulla guaranteeing all eight hits. - The gil cost alone for both might deter you from grabbing this.
- Obtained from the quest Forging a New Myth.
- Simultaneously the easiest and hardest REMA to get your hands on.
- Technically a stronger Rudra's Storm spammer than
Twashtar (Level 119 III) with an augmented Twashtar in offhand. (Citation Needed) - Obtained through the Aeonic Weapon upgrade process.
Offhands
- First thing you grab as a new Dancer.
- Augments are cheap, but requires "Scintillating Rhapsody"
. - Obtained from Oboro.
- Very good upgrade from Polyhymnia.
- Requires completion of Sheol B to augment it, and a hefty sum of gil to match.
- Obtained from the UNM Mephitas.
- Practically your permanent offhand.
- Grows even stronger if you can find a group to help you augment it.
- Obtained from Odyssey.
Job Specific Equipment
Dancer is a 15/15 job in my opinion, but some JSE is more important than others. Do not take a low priority to mean you can skip that piece, as it has its own use case in high level Dancer play.

Maxixi Tiara +4

High Priority | Swap piece for Haste Samba and helps with Step Accuracy. |

Gear Sets
TP Sets
I am hoping to make a tiered list of gearsets as you work your way through higher levels of content. I am tired of guides giving you a "starter" set then telling you to finish the rest of the owl. Of course, if you have friends to help you out, you can skip tiers of gear. If you don't have friends, find your nearest Linkshell Concierge and make a few!
Another thing to mention is that Dancer requires all expansions complete to proceed past the Ambuscade gearset, but the Ambuscade gearset will get you through the majority of it.
- You can take breaks from doing story to keep working on your gearsets. Burnout is real and the sheer glut of choice you get at level 99 is genuinely overwhelming.
