... that Furnishings that you place on your Mog House Second Floor will expand your Storage space, but they do not contribute towards your Mog House's elemental alignment and strength?

This allows you to access your full 80 storage spaces in your Storage inventory, while still being able to access a Moghancement such as the Key Item Moglification: A.M.A.N. Trove which is only obtained with the Prismatic Chest icon.png Prismatic Chest that has a measly 1 Aura strength!

The History of Final Fantasy XI, year 2014 outlining Seekers of Adoulin's conclusion has been released!

Local Galka Talekeeper, Funkworkz has come to the realization that you need to add at least 4 months onto any release expectations he announces for future history installments. Just like George RR MartinGeorgememe2.png, he ended up working on other things instead. Brush off the cobwebs that you have accumulated while waiting for this release, and read through some FFXI development History!

A note from the creator: Naturally, things never work out as planned. Square-Enix ran a load of monthly adventurer campaigns in 2014, which were at random times during the month. With all of these entries on top of a version update every month, the year ended up being quite long. In 2015 we see the release of Rhapsodies as well as the end of console support, so I am sure that it will also be a hefty entry when I eventually complete it.

Remember that www.ffxihistory.com is a thing. Eventually I will migrate the project to a modern design, but not until after 2015 and 2016 are out. Feel free to share that website link with your friends in the meantime.

We have reached the second milestone with our Zone Page Project!

If you recall our post from September 2022 where we announced the improvement of Abyssea related info, content, and zone pages. We said it would be a template going forward. If you also recall that until early this year our Wings of the Goddess and Treasures of Aht Urghan zone pages were vile and disgusting monstrosities slapped together 15 years ago and neglected. Well, no more! We have been hard at work since then.

Beyond our normal mass movement of edits and improvements from the FFXI community. We are happy to announce a staggering amount of work:
  • ToAU and WotG zone pages modernized and updated.
  • The completion of all new zone page templates.
    • These should all function somewhat decently on mobile compared to before or your XI alternatives.
    • Some templates such as Missions, Quests, or Page Headers are functional as they have been, and don't look like a GeoCitiesesque table anymore. However, they need to be migrated to version 2.0 over time.
  • The completion of the Gathering page tables, such as Logging.
  • Completion of all Chocobo Digging tables.
    • This and gathering tables are both being rolled out to pages.
  • Complete migration for NM tables on all zone pages.
    • Thanks to the herculean efforts of Alexeina.
  • Most fishing tables filled out and awaiting zone page placement. See East Ronfaure (S) for an example of all these aforementioned tables.
    • Thanks to the huge effort from Kegfreak.
    • Some random zones that you generally wouldn't think to even fish in are still missing.
  • Updated Treasure Chest and Treasure Coffer pages with tables/maps of each all placed on zone pages.
    • This cascaded into all Borghertz's Hands pages being updated, all individual Chest/Coffer Key related pages, etc.
    • All Treasure and Coffer keys were added to the adversary table on zone pages.
      • The "Adversary" section will take the most time to fill out and will be done after all else.

There is still plenty of work to continue so that our pages are ironclad. All in all, we wanted to let everyone know of all the collective progress made. We greatly appreciate the community and our editors. If anyone would like to assist in moving this mountain then join the Discord in the sidebar or simply begin continuing the pattern of work illustrated.

Holiday Shantotto.png

Oho~hoho~ho, it is holiday time you know, and this year BG has had a lot to show. With plenty of updates and corrected mistakes, until all our fingers ached. We certainly try to do what it takes to please you gross Galka beefcakes. There were updates in our guides to show with still room yet to grow. Not to mention new pages like Sortie. Which are certain to be the life of your next Pick Up Group party. The list goes on, but by now you already know well the might of BG's brawn.

So to the community we celebrate. A happy winter solstice to even all the reprobates. For when you put on your merced Malignance Chapeaus and drink far too much cheap Bordeaux. Your bots will still be running, but so too will your Kruger-Dunning.
Meanwhile, the players more upstanding have earned no reprimanding. It is to you we sing praise as at BG we seek to see your spirits raised. So curl up with what you will and be happy or seek a thrill. The whole team here hopes you enjoy your horseplay during all these special holidays.

O~hohoho!

Are you stuck in despair as you stand there idly on Scholar, losing V20 PUG runs of an Ongo clear for months on end? Do you struggle to beat Ngai because you don't want to use a PUP? Is Mboze ruining your weekend? Do you spam Savage Blade while ignoring all mechanics because you simply don't know what they are? Well, no more with Sheol Shop!

Abyssea 3.jpg

The Wiki Team has been hard at work revamping all of our Abyssea pages.
With the launch of Sortie and Empyrean Armors connection to Abyssea. We wanted to make sure players had the best resource available rather than the Dane Cook of Abyssea pages.

This was a largescale project that in hindsight is to be branded as "Wiki Infrastructure Weeks". As an entire smorgasbord of tables, templates, and design choices had to be created, made, tested, and remade. Thanks to the tireless work on Funkworkz, Spicyryan, our new VIP editor Alexeina, as well as the input and contributions of the rest of team here at BG. We have now taken large steps towards laying the groundwork for improving other swaths of the site. Please look forward to it.

These Abyssea zone revamps reflect the design direction of other zones going forward. To provide feedback you may either leave it on the BGWiki:Suggestions page or the Discord.

We would also like to take a moment to announce and welcome our newest moderator Positron to the team. Thank you for your assistance.

Finally, a shoutout to a few standout users who helped make sure everything was updated here on day 0 of the August update. The XI community thanks Funkworkz, Neviskio, Patriclis, Samstown22, Sehrahin, Xagashi2, and Ligray for putting in the work to make sure we all have the information available immediately.

The History of Final Fantasy XI, year 2013 outlining Seekers of Adoulin's release has been finished!

Local Galka Talekeeper, Funkworkz has now come to the realization we will never see The Winds of WinterGeorgememe.jpg in our lifetime. Accept your fate alongside him, and read through some Final Fantasy XI History instead.

A note from the creator: This year ended up somehow being double the size of 2012. I believe the years might be getting smaller from here, however. FFXIV was now out in 2013, so focus shifted away from FFXI. I pushed to get done this week because this is the 20th anniversary and there may be returning players who did not know this project existed.

Shadow Lord Reddit.png

That there is a new subreddit for Final Fantasy XI?

Spawned fresh from the Bowels of Agony, a new team has formed to steward community discussion on r/FinalFantasy11.
The subreddit seeks to be a productive and creative place with elevated standards to set it apart from the average theme of sh!tposts, karma farming, and careless reposts. Their Damning Edicts shall cast a Swath of Silence upon such blight.
Then again, simply having an active and attentive moderation staff who don't respond with vengeful reports to Reddit is a start!
For no attempt to Kick Back can stop this new Giga Slash of a movement.

The free play campaign has come to a close, but the Discount Campaign is still going on until the end of August!
This campaign discounts the entire game heavily to $10. This package includes the entire Final Fantasy XI storyline, and it comes with codes for the Destrier Beret and Chocobo Shirt. If you purchase the game now, your 30 free days of play does not start until you redeem the code. The History of Final Fantasy XI, year 2012 which covers the Level 99 era is now live!

Local Galka Talekeeper, Funkworkz now has the reputation of only releasing updates once per year. This may improve, but it is still better than George RR Martin!

A note from the creator: 2012 focused on players at Level 99 before Item Level was introduced. It included the last major Final Fantasy XI Fanfest that we have seen (and may ever see again) and Seekers of Adoulin was announced there. Nyzul Isle Uncharted and Legion were released this year, which both proved incredibly difficult at first implementation. Voidwatch saw its conclusion with the addition of Provenance. Afterglow Ultimate Weapons were first introduced.

The work is still in progress, but it is one which is certainly the most continual and concisely comprehensive collection of Final Fantasy XI's history. Even with Square-Enix's quasi history released on the We Are Vana'diel website, I will continue my own project. They are only scratching the surface of FFXI's history. I believe we need to dive all the way in to see the whole picture.

Bgwiki Updated.png

New Feature: Is your bookmark bar filling up with wiki pages? Do you have 10 wiki windows open at any given time? Registered and logged in users are now able to create their own, customized navigation bar section. You can place wiki links and even external links in your customized bar. If you are interested, visit the BG Wiki thread on FFXIAH to see details and examples on how to get started!

Feature Reminder: We have up to date armor and weapon lists on the wiki. Armor has separate pages for each slot, so they can be compared. Weapons have different pages for skill as well. All armor and weapons can be sorted by many different ways such as Damage, Delay, and more. The top Armor page is located here, and the top Weapon page is here. Ctrl + F is a good way to look for stats. The only drawback is potential Augments are not listed.

Bgwiki Updated.png

As you have probably noticed by now, we have updated BGWiki's "Mediawiki" software to the latest version. With this update came major changes to the skin as well as the back end of the website. We had a few hiccups, but the major issues have been taken care of. We still have a few things to fix though, so please be patient with us. After we are back up to 100%, we are confident this update will allow you to have a much better overall experience with the wiki.

We still have to fix the navigation on the left, collapsible tables, the "image popup" feature on pages such as the HTMB page, and mobile skin adaptation. If you run into any major issues please report them to us on the Feedback page or on our Discord!

Remember: If you register an account, you are required to wait around two hours before you are able to login. We have this restriction in place to combat spam bots. As Square-Enix would say, "We apologize for the inconvenience". The wait is certainly worth it, especially if you want to take advantage of a checklist or two!

WTFInVanadielPodcast.png

BGWiki was featured on Episode 4 of the new Final Fantasy XI Podcast "WTF In Vana'diel"!

Staff members Funkworkz and Spicyryan discussed their origins on how they both joined BGWiki's crew back in the early 2010s, the beginnings of BG Wiki itself, as well as what lead us to the point we are today. If any new editors are interested in joining the crew, discussed were also tips and tricks on how to get started. For those who do not want to edit, Thefoxdanger gave his input on using our wiki as an end user.

By joining this community podcast and discussing BGWiki, we are hoping that we will help new aspiring editors to sign up and make our wiki even better. Be sure to tune in here if you would like to listen to Episode 4!

The History of Final Fantasy XI, year 2011 focusing on The Beginning of Post-Abyssea, has been released!

Local Galka Talekeeper, Funkworkz has been making more progress in quarantine than George RR Martin has in the past three years.

A note from the creator: If you have not yet heard of this project, there are two major purposes I set forth to accomplish when creating it. The first is to detail the development history Final Fantasy XI in order to show game evolved over the course of its lifetime. Many of these types of details were forgotten to time and now brought up occasionally these days on message boards. Details on how the game evolved should be restored and preserved all to see. The second goal set forth is to remind old players of things that happened in the days of yesteryear, and to inform new players who did not have the chance to experience the earlier years of the game what exactly players went through getting to where we are today.

The work is still in progress, but it is one which is certainly the most continual and concisely comprehensive collection of Final Fantasy XI's history.

Remember that we have a cool Template:User Page. This fancy thing-a-ma-bob allows you to design your own semi-flexible user page!
While it may seem daunting, all it really takes is typing something in or copy pasting one of the existing (and expanding) User Page Templates into a |field= entry.

While this may not be for everyone and some may merely wish to use or create a Checklist or two, it allows BG users to build their own profiles. Simply copy, paste, and go. It may not be the most perfect thing, but damn it Jim, this is a wiki, not some freewheeling website!

If you lack an account to BG, simply Register, wait a couple hours for the anti-spam/anti-bot cooldown to pass, log in, click your name in the top right, and copy paste/edit away.

2020FanEventCancel.jpg

As the community may be aware, COVID-19 (also known as "novel coronavirus") is spreading within the East Asia region. Taking into consideration the current situation within the region, sadly SQUARE ENIX has decided to cancel the PAX East attendance of staff who would be travelling from the Japan offices. This difficult decision was based on our desire to prevent any potential spread of the virus and to prioritize the health and safety of PAX attendees and our fellow exhibitors.

As an extra precaution regarding the safety of our guests, we are planning to scale down on our planned activities outside of the show floor. As such, we regret to inform you that we will be canceling the Fan Gathering 2020 at PAX East.

We had originally planned to have Producer Akihiko Matsui and Director Yoji Fujito host a presentation at the event. However, we will be adjusting our plan to deliver this information in a different form. We will follow up with more details in the future.

Square Enix is excited to announce that they will be hosting a Fan Gathering in Boston during PAX East! This is your chance to meet and talk all things FFXI with like-minded adventurers and old friends in historical Boston. Guests can enjoy drinks, snacks, and fun trivia with amazing prizes!

To make the event extra special, two distinguished guests will be present from the FFXI development team, Director Yoji Fujito and Producer Akihiko Matsui. The duo will be on hand to host a Q&A session and special presentation. You won't want to miss out!

Further details for this event will be announced at a later date, so please look forward to it!

The old one was really horrible, and this really isn't.

  • We have been making a great effort to update older content!

If you have checked an item page in the past to see it blank, we encourage you to try again! Many old pages have been updated in the last few months.

As a reminder, if you come across a incomplete page, you can click the "BG reference2.png" icon to see what other pages link to that item or key item you are viewing. We also have the FFXIAH Icon v3.png FFXIAH and FFXIDB Icon v3.png FFXIDB links. The FFXIDB link is particularly useful for seeing where an item drops and which monster drops it. With these resources, you can still gather information about an item while the page may be incomplete.

These buttons are not intended as a permanent fix, but they help fill the gaps, as our priority is always focused on covering new version updates.
