Participation Requirements

Dragonslaying is an endgame battle system unique to CatsEyeXI. All participants must first complete the quest:

On a level 60+ job, speak to Valsang in Viette's Weapons in Upper Jeuno at (G-8).
Travel to Mhaura enter Sailors Stay (I-8) first floor and speak to Sigmund multiple times.
- Make sure you exhaust all dialogues.
Obtain a pickaxe.
Use the outpost or Survival Guide and warp to The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah. Travel to (H-7) and trade the pickaxe to the Pile of Stones at the end of the tunnel.
- If nothing happens, go back to Sigmund.
Return to Sigmund in Mhaura to complete the quest.
Speak to Sigmund again so you can store merit points.

Once complete, merit points can be banked at Sigmund, enabling players to purchase pop items as indicated in the table below:

Battles

Dragon Breaker & Fjoturangon

After completing a quest, Dragoons can use the Dragon Breaker job ability at level 75, and can also make use of a brand-new type of angon: the fjoturangon.

To unlock Dragon Breaker and the ability to use fjoturangons, players must speak with Sigmund after completing the Dragonslayer intro quest.

Players will need:

To have defeated at least 5 different "DKP" dragons
Level 75 Dragoon
1,000 DKP
200 Stored Merits (ACE), or 75 Stored Merits (CW/WEW)
A Dragon Heart, Dragon Talon, Wyrm Scale and Wyrm Tooth

With proper training, a wielder of a fjoturangon can throw this poisoned javelin at a flying wyrm (such as Jormungand or Tiamat) to force it to the ground. These angons are even more powerful against Dragonslaying foes. In addition, the "defense down" status effect of a fjoturangon lasts for 15 more seconds than a standard angon.

Staggering

Successful Magic Bursts of a dragon's weak element that exceed a damage threshold will stagger the dragon, causing its "damage taken" modifiers to briefly drop to zero. "Golden Rings" dragons will remain vulnerable for 10 seconds; Brjota will remain vulnerable for 3 seconds.

Players can also stagger dragons with the use of a single fjoturangon.

After the vulnerable period, the damage reduction returns... but weaker than before. Repeated staggers can significantly reduce the damage reduction of these dragons.

As before, staggers can only be performed on "Golden Rings" dragons while they are on the ground (although a fjoturangon will ground a flying dragon and immediately stagger it).

Staggers can only be performed on Brjota while its wings are closed.
Staggers cannot be performed more than once every 30 seconds.

Weaponskill Wall

A "Weaponskill Wall" has been implemented in the Lvl75-cap Dragonslaying fights. Performing the same weaponskill multiple times in a row will build up a resistance in these dragons. Players can avoid this damage penalty by rotating different weaponskills.

Players can also offset this WS Wall with the use of Tomahawk, which reduces the penalty by 25%.

Weaknesses

Dragons no longer have any "breath damage" reduction.

This means abilities such as blue mage breath spells will deal full damage without needing any staggers.

All items from Dragonslaying can be upgraded at Ivaldi (Pile of Stones) at The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah (H-7) (where you had to trade a pickaxe for the unlock quest) using Dragon Killer Points and crafting materials.
